Ruling on playing the recording of the Qur'aan to ward off Shaitaan

بـسـم الله والحـمـد لله والـصلاة والـسـلام عــلى رسـول الله، وبـعـد

Question: What is the ruling on playing a recording of the Qur’aan in the house and there is no one to hear it, arguing that it pushes out the Shaitaan from entering the house?

Shaikh Ibn Baaz رحمه الله answered:

“I do not know of any basis for that.” [1]

[1] What is confirmed from the Sunnah is that the person recites the Qur’aan himself like the aayat al-Kursee, the last two verses of Surah al-Baqarah etc. One example is the following Hadeeth:

It was narrated that Abu Mas`ood al-Ansaari رضي الله عنه said: “The Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: ‘Whoever recites the last two verses of Surah al-Baqarah at night that will suffice him.’” [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (4723) and Saheeh Muslim (807)]
