About Me

بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله ، وبعد

This is an introduction and explanation as to why I have created this blog.

First and foremost let me say that I would not even qualify to be considered a proper student of knowledge. The best one can say is that I share and translate as I learn.

I am Salafi: a Muslim who follows the Qur’aan and the Sunnah upon the Manhaj (methodology) of the Salaf al-Saaleh (the Pious Predecessors) and those who follow their path.

The primary purpose of uploading all these translations on the internet is for a general benefit for the other brothers and sisters, that I share with them what I learn.

All praise is for Allaah alone; I never expected to have even a few followers. It is Allaah who grants success to whom He Wills. I had preferred to keep a low profile and remain anonymous as much as possible but a lot of questions were raised about my identity and I felt obligated to respond to them as it is a part of the Manhaj to know whom the knowledge is being taken from.

With all that said, my Kunya is Abu Sahl Fahad Barmem and I use the pen name "Foodie Fahoodie" and am residing in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. I try to benefit from the scholars like Shaikh Wasee-ullaah `Abbaas, Shaikh Muhammad Aadam al-Ethiopee, Shaikh Rabee`, Shaikh Abdul Mohsin al-`Abbaad, and others غفر الله لهم as much as possible when I visit Makkah and Madeenah.

Let me reiterate the points: I do not claim to be a student of any of these Mashaayik mentioned above, nor do I claim to be a proper student of knowledge and the purpose of this blog is to gather the benefits which I learn and upload them in one place so that others can also benefit.

I pray to Allaah عز وجل that He تعالى makes this work sincerely for Him, as Imaam Maalik رحمه الله said: “What is done (sincerely) for the sake of Allaah will remain.”  [Al-Suyootee in “Tadreeb al-Raawee (1/93)]

I have limited my work to translating only scholarly works which have not yet been translated into English, relying mainly on their books and sometimes other formats (audios/videos) as well. As for my translations, sometimes I translate according to the meaning and not word for word because of the lack of English equivalent that would actually make sense. However, I am not free from mistakes, so if you see I have made one (grammar or otherwise) feel free to message me or point it out so that I may correct it.

Further clarifications to the kind readers about a few points regarding my posts:
1) For the translation (or the interpretation of the meaning) of the Qur’aan, I use the work done by Shaikh Taqee-uddeen al-Hilaalee and Mohammad Mohsin Khan.
2) As for the translation of the Ahaadeeth from the Six Books – Saheeh al-Bukhaaree, Saheeh Muslim, Sunan Abu Dawood, Sunan al-Tirmidhee, Sunan al-Nasaa’ee, and Sunan Ibn Maajah – I rely on the books published by Darussalam. The same goes for Tafseer Ibn Katheer.
3) Apart from this, I translate all the narrations which are on my wall, page, and blog and which are not found in the Six Books mentioned above.
4) Similarly, I used to translate from the Books of Tafseer like al-Sa`dee, Shinqeetee, and others, as well as the Shurooh (explanation) of the Ahaadeeth from Riyaadh al-Saaliheen, 40 al-Nawawee, and others. But now some of these books have already been translated into English.
5) As for the things that are not translated by me, then I do not hesitate to mention the source. Indeed, every author/translator should get the credit for his efforts.

Should anyone have trust issues with the reliability of the translator or the translation then they have every right to unfriend or unfollow me, my page, and my blog.

وما توفيقي إلا بالله ، عليه توكلت ، وإليه أنيب
And my success and guidance cannot come except from Allaah, in Him I trust and unto Him I repent.

  10. As salaamu'alaikum warohmatullaahi wabarokaatuh brother in faith and correct sunnah, I never know that you are from Saudi Arabia (SubḥānaLlaah!) as a result of fluent English and comments regarding the Du'āt residing in USA and UK. I just realize my mistake at present time for ascribing you to USA Salafi brother. I'm used to recommend your Telegram page and Blogspot, and share many of your works on telegram and WhatsApp, and sometimes I add to it so as to relate it to sudden incidents in the field of Da'wah in my country.
    May Allāh forgive me.
I love you for the sake of Allāh.
    Baaroka Llāhu feek!
