INTRODUCTION:

When trials get tough, people fall into depression, anxiety, and other mental illnesses. Depression, anxiety, worry, grief, etc. all have a tremendous impact on a person’s life, social behavior, performance, quality of life, and health, etc.  In other religions, they have no remedy to cope with the situation in the face of difficulties. Other religions simply do not offer any solution. So, when people feel empty and directionless, some opt for consuming alcohol or other intoxicants to cope with this, and some live a life of drugs and illegal sex to look for a way out, and some just end up committing suicide when they feel the pain and suffering is unbearable. All this does nothing but harms a person in this world and the Hereafter. Depression, anxiety, and other mental illnesses are some of the tools of Shaitaan, as Allaah تعالى said:

إِنَّمَا النَّجْوَىٰ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ لِيَحْزُنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَلَيْسَ بِضَارِّهِمْ شَيْئًا إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ ۚ وَعَلَى اللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ

{Secret counsels (conspiracies) are only from Shaitaan, so that he may cause grief to the Believers. But he cannot harm them in the least, except as Allaah permits, and in Allaah let the Believers put their trust.} [1]

Since Shaitaan is our enemy, so the cure has to be Divine. In Islaam, when faced with difficulties, we are taught to seek Allaah’s help through patience and prayers:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اسْتَعِينُوا بِالصَّبْرِ وَالصَّلَاةِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ

{O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allaah is with those who are patient.} [2]

{Those who have believed and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of Allaah. Verily, in the remembrance of Allaah do hearts find rest.} [3]

The obligatory and optional Salaah, Dhikr (remembrance of Allaah), Du`aa, Tawakkal (reliance on Allaah), Trusting Him are the way out for the believers when faced with difficulties, calamities, and adversities.

Prophet Muhammad taught many Divine supplications to cope with the situation when the affairs get difficult. He was given the gift of Jawaami` al-Kalim (expressing much in a few words), as the Prophet said: I have been given Jawaami` al-Kalim (i.e., words which are concise but comprehensive in meaning). [4] The book deals with explaining some of these supplications to help one understand their meaning and what they imply, which, by Allaah’s permission, will give them strength in the face of difficulties.

May Allaah ease our burden, forgive our sins, give us patience during the times of trials and guide us out of the misery we suffer.

Takhbeeb: A punishable offense which goes unnoticed

Except for Islaam, there is no other religion, society, or country that makes Takhbeeb an offense punishable by law. Since it is not mentioned in the Western world, many people, including many Muslims, are unaware of this word, “Takhbeeb” and the ruling concerning it. Islaam outlawed this crime 1400 years ago, and it took many precautions in this regard, it made it obligatory for both men and women to lower their gaze, it prohibited free-mixing between men and women, and it prohibited seclusion between a man and a woman who are not related, it prohibited improper clothing, it defined the dress codes for men and women, Hijaab, etc.

Some things corrupt a person’s marital life while he is unaware. It works like a hidden poison. This poison (a crime) is known as Takhbeeb: the act of corrupting or instigating the wife against her husband or the husband against his wife; and it is punishable by law.

To know what Takhbeeb means and who are the people involved, and how can they influence, kindly click the below link to download the pdf:

Brief Comments on Riyaadh al-Saaliheen #91

This is the explanation of the Hadeeth “The religion is sincerity” by:

1) Shaikh Muhammad Ibn Saaleh al-`Uthaymeen from the books: a) Sharh Riyaadh al-Saaliheen and b) Sharh al-Arba`een al-Nawawiyyah

And by:
2) Shaikh Saaleh Ibn Fawzaan al-Fawzaan from the book: Sharh al-Arba`een al-Nawawiyyah

The purpose was to gather all the benefits regarding this Hadeeth, mentioned in these three different books by these two noble Shaikhs and combine them into one book for the maximum benefit and understanding.

This Hadeeth is from the Jawaami` al-Kalim (concise in wording but comprehensive in meaning), In a few words the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم explained the rights of Allaah, His Book, His Messengers, the Imaams and the common Muslims have upon us. When the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “The religion is sincerity”, it means the essence of this Deen is nothing but Naseehah. And this is why it becomes more important for us to understand this Hadeeth as explained by the scholars.

`Ibaadah: Definition, Pillars, Conditions, Characteristics and Types

Preface:

It is very important that we all understand the purpose for which we were created; otherwise we are likely to waste our time doing things, which are of no real value. For example, if everyone were sent to school without knowing why they were sent there, they would probably all start playing and would continue to do so until someone tells them what they are supposed to do there. Allaah تعالى, who is the Most Wise, would not create us without a purpose, because anyone who does something without any reason behind it is considered unreasonable and foolish, and Allaah سبحانه وتعالى could never be that. For example, if a man made a machine, which did not do anything, he would be looked as being crazy. Or if someone came and knocked on a door, but when asked whom he wanted, he answered: ‘I don’t know’ and when asked why he knocked, he again answered: ‘I don’t know’. Such an individual would be taken to a madhouse for treatment. A wise man is one who plans his affairs well in advance and does things for good reasons. Therefore, Allaah, the All-Wise Creator of man, must have created us for a very important purpose.

The whole purpose of learning Tawheed is to establish the `Ibaadah of Allaah. Therefore the purpose of life is the `Ibaadah of Allaah and if we are to perform Allaah’s `Ibaadah properly, we must know exactly what it is and what it is not, as Allaah تعالى says:

True Khilaafah is only established when the `Ibaadah of Allaah is first established on earth; rather, Khilaafah is from the fruits of `Ibaadah. Unlike those who think that establishing the Khilaafah is more important than `Ibaadah or that there is no `Ibaadah if there is no Khilaafah.

What follows is a translation of the article on the subject of `Ibaadah, its’ definition, its’ pillars, its’ and conditions that was printed in مجلة البحوث الإسلامية and which is available on the website of “alifta.com”.

Tafseer: {No by your Lord! They have no Faith...}

{We sent no Messenger, but to be obeyed by Allaah’s leave. If they, when they were unjust to themselves, had come to you and begged Allaah’s forgiveness, and the Messenger had begged forgiveness for them, indeed, they would have found Allaah All-Forgiving, Most Merciful. * But no, by your Lord (O Muhammad!), they can have no faith, until they make you judge in all disputes between them, and find in themselves no resistance against your decisions, and accept (them) with full submission.} [Surah al-Nisaa’ (4): 64-65]

Explanation of the Hadeeth: Reward depends upon the Intention

All praises be to Allaah; we praise Him, and seek His help and forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allaah from the evil of our own selves, and the evil consequences of our deeds. Whosoever Allaah guides, no one can misguide him. And whomsoever Allaah misguides, no one can guide him. We bear witness that no one has the right to be worshipped except Allaah, and we bear witness that Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم is the Slave and Messenger of Allaah.

May peace and blessings of Allaah be upon His last and final Messenger, upon his family and companions, and upon those who follow them with righteousness till the Day of Judgment!

Verily, the best speech is the Book of Allaah (Qur’aan). The best guidance is the guidance of Prophet Muhammad The most evil of matters is innovation, and every innovation is a heresy, and every heresy is misguidance and every misguidance is in Hell.

This is the translation of Shaikh Muhammad Ibn Saaleh al-`Uthaymeen’s رحمه الله explanation of the very first Hadeeth from al-Arba`een al-Nawaweeyah (Forty Ahaadeeth al-Nawawee): “Rewards of Deeds depend upon the intention”. The purpose here is to help the English speaking readers to benefit from the explanation of the esteemed Shaikh رحمه الله in understanding the meaning of this Hadeeth. We would like to note that the translation was made as close as possible to the meaning of the original text and not always done verbatim as a translation of that sort loses its essence in some cases. Further, the footnotes are the words of the translator to help the reader better understand the points being made.

Al-Istiqaamah (Firmness Upon Islaam)

(Revised on Jan. 17, 2013)

{Verily, those who say: “Our Lord is Allaah (Alone),” and then they stand firm, on them the angels will descend (at the time of their death) (saying): “Fear not, nor grieve! But receive the glad tidings of Paradise which you have been promised!”} [Surah Fussilat (41): 30]

On the authority of Abu `Amr, though others call him Abu `Amrah Sufyaan bin `Abdullaah رضي الله عنه said: I said: “O Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم, tell me something about Islaam which I could not ask anyone about save you.” He صلى الله عليه وسلم answered: “Say: 'I believe in Allaah', and then stand firm and steadfast.” [Saheeh Muslim]
