Al-Hayaa’: An indicator of a woman’s level of Imaan

(Al-Hayaa’: modesty, shyness, bashfulness, decency)

The distinct characteristic with which we are known for is al-Hayaa’. Why is al-Hayaa’ given so much importance? It is because al-Hayaa’ is good and it only brings good, and al-Hayaa’ is not present in a thing except that it beautifies it.

A woman who is shy will not be in the gathering of men, she will not be in crowded places, she will not raise her voice in the presence of men. So, when her feminine characteristics get corroded, and she mingles with the opposite gender, her femininity goes away, or it declines drastically. It does not necessarily mean that her character is bad or that she has lost her dignity, but her femininity is part of her beauty, which goes away when it gets corroded or when she intermingles.

Explanation of the Du`aa for anxiety and sorrow - Hadeeth #12

`Abdullaah Ibn `Amr Ibn al-`Aas رضي الله عنهما narrated: The Messenger of Allaah used to say these words in his supplication:

اللَّهُمَّ إنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ غَلَبَةِ الدَّيْنِ، وَغَلَبَةِ الْعَدُوِّ، وَشَمَاتَةِ الأعْدَاءِ

Allaahumma innee a`oodhu bika min ghalabatid-dain, wa ghalabatil-`aduww, wa shamaatatil-a`daa’.

O Allaah, I seek refuge with You from the burden of debt, from being overpowered by the enemy, and from the enemy rejoicing (at an evil I am afflicted with) [1]

Explanation of the Du`aa for anxiety and sorrow - Hadeeth #11

The Prophet said: Whoever comes across a person suffering a calamity and says (silently):

الحمد لله الذي عافاني مما ابتلاك به ، وفضلني على كثير ممن خلق تفضيلا

(Alhamdulillaahi-ladhee `aafaanee mimmaa ibtalaaka bih, wa fadh-dhalanee alaa katheerim mimman  khalaqa tafdheelaa)

‘All praise is for Allaah Who saved me from that which He tested you with and Who most certainly favored me over much of His creation.’

He will be kept safe from that calamity. [1]

Love Of Dunya: The Mother Of All Sufferings

1. The Past, The Present, And The Future:

The depression, the tightness of the chest, the restlessness, the stress, the anxiety, the sorrow, the distress, the agitation, the discomfort, the fear, and other such mental and psychological disturbances, these are all unpleasant guests. These are not the guests which one can see; these are not the guests which occupy space in the homes. The problem with these guests is that they live in the hearts, dominate the minds, and influence the decisions.

We see many people around us – apparently – living a life of bliss. Having all the luxuries of life - a car, a big house, a nice family, good income, good health etc. But he is overpowered by distress, as if his chest is going to explode; and he is overpowered by anxiety which takes away his happiness; and he is overpowered by depression which makes him antisocial.

Receive The Glad Tidings For Your Patience

{And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives, and fruits}

[Surah al-Baqarah (2): 155]

Contemplate that Allaah تعالى said: {We shall test you with something of fear…}, meaning: ❝Indeed, We will test you with something light of fear…

[Tafseer Muyassar]

Meaning: If Allaah تعالى Willed, He would have tested us with something more difficult, but He تعالى, out of His infinite Mercy, tests us with things that are within our capacity to bear.

Verily, The Promise Of Allaah Is True But Most Of Mankind Do Not Know

Surah al-Qasas (28) is a Makkee Surah. One of the main themes of this Surah is about the Promise of Allaah and Victory from Him.

It is the promise of Allaah to Muhammad : “O Muhammad! We will fulfill our promise to you as We had fulfilled it for Moosaa عليه السلام.”

When and how did Allaah fulfill the promise for Moosaa عليه السلام? Allaah تعالى said:

{And We inspired the mother of Moosaa (saying): “Suckle him, but when you fear for him, then cast him into the river and fear not, nor grieve. Verily! We shall bring him back to you and shall make him one of (Our) Messengers.”}

[Surah al-Qasas (28): 6]

Through These Test In Life – Maybe Allaah تعالى Wants To Give You Something Better Than What You Are Expecting!

You will - without a doubt - be afflicted with a calamity, as it is mentioned in the Qur’aan, repeatedly. And sometimes, this calamity is extended for a long period of time.

While a person is in the midst of the first calamity, he is struck with another one. Sometimes, Allaah تعالى tests a person with two calamities at the same time. A person finds himself in a dilemma. A person is afflicted with a calamity, and he prays and supplicates - supplications after supplications, and supplications after supplications, and all of a sudden, another calamity befalls him, or the same calamity intensifies and becomes more severe. This happens sometimes, this is the test from Allaah.
