When a man wrongs his family

بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله ، وبعد

Minor sins regarding the rights of the wife, children, and neighbors are expiated through Salaah, Saum, Sadaqah, and enjoining good and forbidding evil:

Hudhaifah Ibn al-Yamaan رضي الله عنه said that the Prophet ﷺ said:

❝A man's afflictions (i.e. wrong deeds) concerning his relation to his family, his property, his own self, his children, and his neighbors are expiated by his:

✔ Salaah (prayers),

✔ Saum (fasting),

✔ Sadaqah (giving in charity),

✔and Amr bil-Ma`roof (enjoining what is good),

✔and Nahee `anil-Munkar (forbidding what is evil).❞

Explanation of the Hadeeth: “I’ve been supported by awe over my enemies”

بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله ، وبعد

Allaah تعالى says:

﴿سَنُلْقِي فِي قُلُوبِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا الرُّعْبَ بِمَا أَشْرَكُوا بِاللَّـهِ مَا لَمْ يُنَزِّلْ بِهِ سُلْطَانًا﴾

{We shall cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve, because they joined others in worship with Allaah, for which He had sent no authority.} [Surah aal-`Imraan (3): 151]

He تعالى also:

﴿إِذْ يُوحِي رَبُّكَ إِلَى الْمَلَائِكَةِ أَنِّي مَعَكُمْ فَثَبِّتُوا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا ۚ سَأُلْقِي فِي قُلُوبِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا الرُّعْبَ﴾

Hadeeth: Fixing certain time and place for teaching women

بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله ، وبعد

Narrated Abu Sa`eed al-Khudree رضي الله عنه:

❝Some women requested the Prophet ﷺ to fix a day for them as the men were taking all his time. On that he promised them one day for religious lessons and commandments.❞

Narrated Abu Sa`eed al-Khudree رضي الله عنه:

❝A woman came to Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ and said: “O Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ! Men (only) benefit by your teachings, so please devote to us from (some of) your time, a day on which we may come to you so that you may teach us of what Allaah has taught you.” Allaah's Messenger ﷺ said: ❝Gather on such-and-such a day at such-and-such a place.❞ They gathered and Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ came to them and taught them of what Allaah had taught him.❞

Look at who you accompany

 بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله ، وبعد

A person can never be safe when he accompanies the innovators, or the deviants, or the callers of misguidance. He will – directly or indirectly – be affected by their misguidance. It is like accompanying a blacksmith at his shop. Even if you are safe from the sparks from the furnace, the smoke from the furnace and the unpleasant smell coming thereof and that of the blacksmith will definitely get to you.

Narrated Abu Moosaa رضي الله عنه: Allaah's Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “The example of a good companion (who sits with you) in comparison with a bad one, is like that of the musk seller and the blacksmith's bellows (or furnace); from the first you would either buy musk or enjoy its good smell while the bellows would either burn you or your clothes, or you get a bad nasty smell thereof.”

Imaam al-Bukhaaree رحمه الله said:

The Book of the obligation of Khumus: Chapter: The evidence that confirms that the Khumus (i.e. one-fifth of the war booty) is meant for the needs of Allaah’s Messenger and the poor; and the fact that Allaah’s Messenger favored the people of As-Suffah and the widows in this matter, for when Faatimah complained of suffering from grinding and the hand-mill and requested him to provide her with a slave-girl (from the booty), he (did not give her a slave-girl) but told her to ask for Allaah’s Aid.

Narrated `Alee رضي الله عنه: Faatimah رضي الله عنها went to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم complaining about the bad effect of the stone hand-mill on her hand. She heard that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم had received a few slave girls (as captives of war). But (when she came there) she did not find him, so she mentioned her problem to `Aaishah رضي الله عنها. When the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم came, ‘Aaishah informed him about that. `Alee رضي الله عنه added: So the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم came to us when we had gone to bed. We wanted to get up (on his arrival) but he صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Stay where you are.” Then he came and sat between me and her and I felt the coldness of his feet on my abdomen. He صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Shall I direct you to something better than what you have requested? When you go to bed say سبحان الله (Subhaan Allaah) thirty-three times, الحمد لله (al-hamdulillaah) thirty three times, and الله أكبر (Allaahu Akbar) thirty four times, for that is better for you than a servant.”

`Alee رضي الله عنه added: I have never failed to recite it ever since. Somebody asked: Even on the night of the battle of Siffeen? He said: No, even on the night of the battle of Siffeen.

Book of Prayer Times: Chapter: Prayer expiates sins

Narrated Shaqeeq that he had heard Hudhaifah رضي الله عنه saying: “Once we were sitting with `Umar رضي الله عنه and he said: “Who amongst you remembers the statement of Allaah’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم about the afflictions?” I said: “I know it as the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم had said it.” `Umar said: “No doubt you are bold.” I said: “The afflictions ^[1] caused for a man by his wife, money, ^[2] children and neighbor are expiated by his prayers, fasting, charity and by enjoining (what is good) and forbidding (what is evil).” `Umar said: “I did not mean that but I asked about that affliction which will spread like the waves of the sea.” <sup>[3]</sup> I (Hudhaifah) said: “O leader of the faithful believers! You need not be afraid of it as there is a closed door between you and it.” `Umar asked: “Will the door be broken or opened?” I replied: “It will be broken.” `Umar said: “Then it will never be closed again.” I was asked whether `Umar knew that door. I replied that he knew it as one knows that there will be night before the tomorrow morning. I narrated a Hadeeth that was free from any misstatement.” The sub-narrator added that they deputized Masrooq to ask Hudhaifah (about the door). Book of Prayer Times: Chapter: {(And remain always) turning in repentance to Him (only), and be afraid and dutiful to Him; and perform As-Salaah (the prayers) and be not of Al-Mushrikeen} [Surah al-Room (30):31]

Narrated Ibn `Abbaas رضي الله عنهما: Once a delegation of `Abdul-Qais came ^[1] to Allaah’s Apostle صلى الله عليه وسلم and said: ‘We belong to such and such branch of the tribe of Rabee`ah and we can only come to you ^[2] in the sacred months ^[3]. Order us to do something good so that we may (carry out) take it from you and also invite to it our people whom we have left behind (at home).’ The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “I order you to do four things and forbid you from four things. (The first four are as follows):

Narrated Ibn Shihaab: Once `Umar bin `Abdul `Azeez delayed the prayer and `Urwah bin Az-Zubair went to him and said: Once in Koofah (`Iraaq), Al-Mugheerah bin Shu`bah delayed his prayers and Abi Mas`ood Al-Ansaaree went to him and said: O Mugheerah! What is this? Don't you know that once Jibreel (Gabriel) came and offered the prayer (Fajr prayer) and Allaah's Apostle صلى الله عليه وسلم prayed too; then he prayed again (Dhuhr prayer) and so did Allaah's Apostle صلى الله عليه وسلم; and again he prayed (`Asr prayer) and Allaah's Apostle صلى الله عليه وسلم did the same; again he prayed (Maghrib-prayer) and so did Allaah's Apostle صلى الله عليه وسلم; and again prayed (`Ishaa’ prayer) and so did Allaah's Apostle صلى الله عليه وسلم and (Jibreel) said: “I was ordered to do so (to demonstrate the prayers prescribed to you).” `Umar (bin `Abdul `Azeez) said to `Urwah: “Be sure of what you say. Did Jibreel lead Allaah's Apostle صلى الله عليه وسلم at the stated times of the prayers? `Urwah replied: Bashir bin Abi Mas`ood narrated like this on the authority of his father. ^[1]
