`Umar Ibn al-Khattaab: A caring father

بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله ، وبعد

🌟 He is always remembered for his anger and stern stance against his enemies.

🌟 He is always remembered for his strong faith that even Shayaateen would change their routes when `Umar used to pass by.

🚫 He is also wrongly accused of burying alive his infant daughter. [This is a false report and it has already been clarified in the book: “Saheeh al-Seerah]

Indeed Allaah تعالى made the Sahaabah an example for those after them

The Sahaabah showed us the principles that one should adopt while believing in the matters of Unseen.

They showed us the way to true servitude.

They showed us that pure hearts are the ones that easily submit.

When desires prevail, truth becomes obscure.

The Sharee`ah is complete and perfect for all times and places till the coming of the Hour.

بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله ، وبعد

In the Hadeeth of al-Dajjaal the Companions asked the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم: How long would he stay on the earth? The Prophet said: For forty days, one day like a year and one day like a month and one day like a week and the rest of the days would be like your days. We said: Allaah's Messenger, would one day's prayer suffice for the prayers of day equal to one year? Thereupon he said: No, but you must make an estimate of time (and then offer the prayers).

Soofee Trance: from the actions of Shaitaan

بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله ، وبعد

`Abdullaah Ibn `Urwah Ibn al-Zubair said: I asked my grandmother – Asmaa’ (Bint Abu Bakr) رضي الله عنهما: ‘What was the state of the Companions of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم when they recited the Qur’aan?’

She replied: They would be in the state as Allaah عز وجل described them (in the Qur’aan): Their eyes would overflow with tears and their skins would shiver (when they recited it or heard it).

I said: But the people nowadays, when they hear the Qur’aan go into trance.

She said: I seek Allaah’s refuge from the Shaitaan.

[Reported by Sa`ee Ibn Mansoor “Tafseer min Sunanih”, al- Baihaqee in “Shu`ab al-Imaan” (1900) and al-Shaatibee in “al-`Itisaam” (1/352) with a Saheeh Chain]

Benefits from this narration:
1. In this is a proper guidance – the methodology of the Companions of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم – while reciting the Qur’aan. When they used to recite the Qur’aan, their eyes would overflow with tears and their skins would shiver.

2. This narration describes the deviancy of those who call themselves as Soofees and who go into trances, or swoon, or run in circles, or jump up and down when they recite the Qur’aan or do any other form of Dhikr. And Asmaa’ Bint al-Siddeeq seeking Allaah’s refuge from this action is a refutation and confirmation that this action is from Shaitaan and not from the actions of the pious predecessors.

3. This narration teaches us an important lesson: Righteous actions like – al-Zuhd (asceticism), al-Khawf (fear of Allaah), and al-Ikhbaat (humility) – are not to be taken by the appearances of those who display it. Rather, they have to be in accordance with the Kitaab and the Sunnah, and as per the understanding of the Companions رضي الله عنهم أجمعين.

The Khawaarij kill indiscriminately

بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله ، وبعد

The Companion `Abdullaah bin Khabbaab رضي الله عنهما:

His father Khabbaab bin al-Arat رضي الله عنه was also a companion. In fact Khabbaab was among the foremost to accept Islaam. He was one of the six people to embrace Islaam and was tortured at the hands of the Mushriks of Makkah.

As for `Abdullaah bin Khabbaab, he, along with `Abdullaah bin al-Zubair, were the first to be born in Islaam.

`Abdullaah bin Khabbaab was killed by the Khawaarij:
Some of the Khawaarij were travelling from al-Basrah to al-Koofah. On their way they met `Abdullaah bin Khabbaab along with him was his wife (at his home). They asked him: Who are you? He said: I am `Abdullaah bin Khabbaah, the Companion of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم. They asked him about Abu Bakr, `Umar, `Uthmaan and `Alee رضي الله عنهم. He mentioned all of them with lots of praises, so they killed him and shed his blood in the water. And they killed his wife who was pregnant with near delivery. She said to them: I am a woman, don’t you fear Allaah? They ripped open her womb (and killed both the mother and the child).

[Usud al-Ghaabah (3/223) and Siyar A`laam al-Nubalaa’ (2/534)]

•――۩۞۩――•

When the Khawaarij killed `Uthmaan رضي الله عنه, they did not care...

1) for his old age.
2) that he was reciting the Qur'aan.
3) that he was the Companion of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.
4) that he was the Prophet's صلى الله عليه وسلم son in law.
5) that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم trusted him with two of his daughters.
6) that even the angels felt shy in front of him.
7) that he was one of the 10 who were promised Paradise.

And centuries later, Hizb al-Tahreer and those who follow their ways from Ikhwaan al-Mufliseen and Jamaat Islaami are not ashamed of accusing `Uthmaan رضي الله عنه and justify his killing.

•――۩۞۩――•

The Khawaarij do not respect the sanctity of the place or the time:

A) It was the month of Ramadhaan when the Muslims faced the Kuffaar in the battle of Badr...and it was the month of Ramadhaan when the Khaariji, `Abdul-Rahaam bin Muljim, killed `Alee رضي الله عنه.

B) In the year 1400 Hijri, Juhaymaan al-`Utaibi and his brother-in-law, Muhammad bin `Abdullaah al-Qahtaanee (who declared himself as the Mahdi), along with their forces seized the Masjid al-Haraam in Makkah (a sacred place), in the month of Muharram (a sacred time in which fighting is prohibited). They killed the Saudi security forces along with the pilgrims who got trapped in the Haram. Even the walls of Masjid al-Haraam were riddled with bullets. It took two weeks before Masjid al-Haraam was released from their clutches.

Conformity of `Umar's رضي الله عنه statements with Divine Revelation

بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله ، وبعد

`Aaishah رضي الله عنها reported Allaah’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم as saying: “There had been among the people before you inspired persons and if there were any such among my Umma `Umar Ibn al-Khattaab would be one of them.” Ibn Wahb explained the word Muhaddathoon as: “those who receive hint from the High (Mulhamun).” [Saheeh Muslim (5901)]

Narrated Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه: The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Among the nation of Banee Israa’eel who lived before you, there were men who used to be inspired with guidance though they were not prophets, and if there is any of such persons amongst my followers, it is `Umar.” [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (3689, 3469)]

Everyone loves to know about the lives of the people who accompanied the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم – who saw, spoke and learned from the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم – who ate, drank, travelled, and fought with the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم – who sacrificed their wealth, lives and families for the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and Islaam. They were the best of people, after the Messengers and Prophets عليهم الصلاة والسلام, to walk on the face of the earth. As the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
