The three types of trials

🌟 The three types of trials:
1. Trails for elevating the status
2. Trials as a reminder
3. Trials as a punishment

👉
Foremost, you must realize that you were not created for this world. You were created for the Hereafter. Either the permanent bliss in Paradise or the painful punishment in the Hellfire.

💠 THE FIRST TYPE OF PEOPLE:
(Trails for elevating the status)

Perhaps a person may be righteous. His relationship with Allaah is good, upon servitude, obedience, and righteousness, and his sins are less, he is obedient to his parents, he strictly guards the prayers, prays on time, recites the Qur’aan, etc. All his affairs are good! Yet, after all this, he is afflicted with sickness or falls into debt, or loses his job, and he lives in poverty and destitution. He supplicates and supplicates, but it seems to him that his prayers are not being answered.

The benefits of falling into a sin for a sincere believer!

The purpose of this article is not to encourage sins, but rather to encourage repentance. Every son of Aadam will eventually commit a sin or fall into error, as no one is perfect as has been mentioned numerous times in the Ahaadeeth:

Anas رضي الله عنه narrated that the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

“Every son of Aadam commits sin, and the best of those who commit sin are those who repent.”

[Sunan al-Tirmidhee (2499) and Sunan Ibn Maajah (4251) and graded as “Hasan” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

Ibn al-Qayyim: The Cure of Evil

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said: “The cure of evil is by doing its opposite” [Zaad al-Ma`aad (4/157-158) and also in Tibb al-Nabawee (1/127)]

Example: The opposite of disobedience to Allaah is being obedient to Him.

The opposite of disobedience to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم is following/implementing his Sunnah.

The opposite of backbiting a person is by praising him.

The opposite of being jealous (envy) of a person is to ask Allaah to bless him (by saying “Baarak Allaahu feek” or “baarak Allaahu `alaik”)

Tafseer: Tawbah - When it will not be accepted.

From the Tafaaseer of Ibn Katheer and al-Sa`dee رحمهم الله on the saying of Allaah تعالى:

{Allaah accepts only the repentance of those who do evil in ignorance and foolishness and repent soon (afterwards); it is they to whom Allaah will forgive and Allaah is Ever All-Knower, All-Wise. And of no effect is the repentance of those who continue to do evil deeds until death faces one of them and he says: “Now I repent”, nor of those who die while they are disbelievers. For them, We have prepared a painful torment.} [Surah al-Nisaa (4): 17-18]

Hadeeth: Open repentance for open mistakes.

`Ataa reported from Mu`aadh bin Jabl that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “(O people!) Keep your duty to Allaah and fear him as much as you can. And remember Allaah عز وجل near every stone and tree (i.e. remember Allaah a lot). And if you committed a sin, follow it up with repentance – a secret (mistake to be repented) secretly; and an open (mistake to be repented) publicly.”

[Reported by Imaam Ahmad in “al-Zuhd” (26) and Tabaraanee in “al-Mu`jam al-Kabeer” (20/159/331). Shaikh al-Albaanee said in al-Saheehah (3320): “the narrators of this narration are reliable, they are the narrators of al-Bukhaaree and Muslim; except for Shareek (one of the narrators) who is weak, and the chain is Mursal (broken) as `Ataa did not meet Mu`aadh.” This Hadeeth also has supporting chain which takes it to the level of “Hasan li ghairihee”, see al-Silsilah al-Saheehah (1475) ]

Sincere Repentance

Repentance is required for all sins, great or small, apparent or hidden. Repentance is for the benefit of man, since Allaah سبحانه و تعالى Himself is free of need.

The word “Taubah” literally means “turning back”. Since, sin puts distance between the soul and Allaah سبحانه و تعالى, during repentance the servant turns back to Allaah سبحانه و تعالى, seeking refuge in His forgiveness. And when a soul repents and returns to Him, Allaah سبحانه و تعالى turns back to His servant in acceptance and forgiveness. Thus Allaah سبحانه و تعالى has named Himself “at-Tawwaab”, the constant Acceptor of Repentance and sometimes translated as “the Oft-Returning”.
