Shirk al-Asghar does not remove a person from Islaam:

بـسـم الله والحـمـد لله والـصلاة والـسـلام عــلى رسـول الله، وبـعـد

Allaah تعالى said:

{Verily, Allaah forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases} [Surah al-Nisaa’ (4): 48]

Shaikh Ibn Baaz: Celebrating the Prophet’s birthday is a Bid`ah

Shaikh Ibn Baaz رحمه الله said:

Celebrating the Prophet’s صلى الله عليه وسلم birthday is a Bid`ah (innovation) and a means leading towards Shirk. If it were legislated, then the Salaf al-Saalih (the Pious Predecessors – the Companions and their followers) would have done that. As for the Hadeeth, where he صلى الله عليه وسلم was asked about Monday, he صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

ذَاكَ يَوْمٌ وُلِدْتُ فِيهِ، وَيَوْمٌ بُعِثْتُ - أَوْ أُنْزِلَ عَلَيَّ فِيهِ

“It was the day on which I was born, on which I was commissioned with Prophethood or revelation was sent to me” [1]

This is to encourage fasting. [2]

Weakness of the Hadeeth: The Prophet taking an oath by saying: "By his father!"

Shaikh Ibn Baaz رحمه الله said regarding the statement of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم:

أَفْلَحَ وَأَبِيهِ إِنْ صَدَقَ

“By his father, he shall succeed if he were true (to what he professed).” [Saheeh Muslim (11b)] [1] [2] [3]

Shaikh Ibn Baaz: Do not lend your ears to the Fitnah which took place between the Sahaabah

Shaikh Ibn Baaz رحمه الله said:

“The most (saved and) preferred opinion is to stop discussing [1] about the Fitnah which took place between Sahaabah رضي الله عنهم (Allaah be pleased with all of them) [2]; and do not to listen to the audios (or videos) which speak about the Fitnah that took place between the Sahaabah; for in them there are doubtful (matters) [3] which will only create confusion among the listeners.”

The Covenant between you and your Lord

Shaikh Ibn Baaz رحمه الله said:

Allaah تعالى said:

{You (Alone) we worship, and you (Alone) we ask for help} [Surah al-Faatihah (1): 5]

“It is a covenant between you and your Lord that you WILL[1] worship Him (alone) and that you will ask (only) Him for help; and that your love for your family and children is in accordance with the love of Allaah عز وجل and His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم (i.e. your love for your family should not be a hindrance in your obedience to Allaah).”

Shaikh Ibn Baaz: "People who died during al-Fatrah will be tested on the Day of Judgement"

Shaikh Ibn Baaz رحمه الله said:

* The correct opinion [1] is that the ahl al-Fatrah (those who received no message or messenger), they will be tested on the Day of Judgment. Whomsoever obeys (Allaah تعالى) will enter the Paradise and those who disobey (Him) will enter the Fire.

Shaikh Ibn Baaz: "The Da`wah had reached the Prophet's Father"

Shaikh Ibn Baaz رحمه الله said:

* The saying of Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم: “Verily my father and your father are in the Fire”, [1] is an indication that the Da`wah (the message of Islaam) had reached [2] him as it had reached `Amr bin Luhai. [3]

Shaikh Ibn Baaz: Beware of hypocrites and hypocrisy

Shaikh Ibn Baaz رحمه الله said:

* The hypocrites are the enemies of Allaah تعالى and His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم, for they are more evil than the Kuffaar. Allaah تعالى said:

{إِنَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ فِي الدَّرْكِ الْأَسْفَلِ مِنَ النَّارِ}

{Verily, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the Fire} [Surah al-Nisaa’ (4): 145]

When is the Hujjah (argument) established?

Shaikh Ibn Baaz رحمه الله said:

When the Messengers are sent to the people (who are mature in age and not insane) and they address them in their language, but they (the people) reject (them), then the Hujjah (argument) has been established against them because of the saying of Allaah تعالى:

The soul's share of the punishment or the pleasure of the grave is more

Shaikh Ibn Baaz رحمه الله said:

The soul’s share from the pleasure and the punishment in the grave is more, whereas the body only shares a part of it. But on the Day of Judgment, both the soul and the body (will have equal the share of the pleasure or the punishment).

Giving up one's rights to avoid the discord

Shaikh Ibn Baaz رحمه الله said:

“A sinner does not go out of Faith (Imaan)[1] unlike what the Khawaarij and the Mu`tazilah say because of the saying of Allaah تعالى:

﴿وَإِن طَائِفَتَانِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ اقْتَتَلُوا﴾

{And if two parties or groups among the believers fall to fighting…} [Surah al-Hujuraat (49):9] [2]

Special only for the Prophets!

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

“There was a Prophet who drew lines, so whose lines agree with his line then that is fine.” [1]

Using the Attributes of Allaah as Waseelah in Du`aa.

Shaikh Ibn Baaz رحمه الله said:

The Names of Allaah جل وعلا are Names and Descriptions [1]; which are to be used while invoking (Him). These Names also point to His Attributes like al-Rahmah (Mercy), al-`Ilm (Knowledge), al-Basr (His Sight) and other than them [2]. But the Attributes are not be used while invoking Him, rather they are to be used only as Waseelah.

As for the Names, then they are to be used while supplicating like: Yaa Rahmaan!, Yaa Raheem! [3]; but one should not say: Yaa Ridhallaah! (O pleasure of Allaah!), nor should one say: Yaa `Izzatillaah! (O Honor of Allaah!) [4].

Seeking aid from Jinn

Shaikh Ibn Baaz رحمه الله said:

“For those who recite (perform the Ruqyah) on a patient, it is not permissible for them to seek help of the Jinn even if they are Muslims, nor asking them (for a need) – because it a means of Shirk [1]. As for the recitation (of the Qur’aan) to warn the Jinn and to remind them of Allaah, then there is no problem in that. And as for the narrations from the Jinn, they are not acceptable, as they are “Majhool” (unknown and thus unreliable) [2].”

Source:

[1] Because normally the Jinn do not help unless an act of Shirk or Kufr is done to please them – like reciting the aayaat from the Qur’aan backwards etc.

[2] Since we cannot see the Jinn, we cannot know their condition – are they reliable or not, are they telling the truth or not – their status is unknown and thus, they cannot be relied upon.

Asking in the name of Allaah

Shaikh Ibn Baaz رحمه الله said:

“Preference should be given that one should not make a request (or ask someone) in the Name of Allaah تعالى [1] so as not to put a strain on his brother.”

Source:

[1] By saying: أسألك بالله “I ask you by Allaah, give this to me”, “I ask you in Allaah’s name, do this for me” etc.

The reason is because if somebody makes a request in the Name of Allaah, he is not to be rejected:

Ibn `Umar رضي الله عنه narrated that Allaah’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “If anyone makes a request in Allaah's Name, give it to him; if anyone seeks refuge by Allaah's Name, give him refuge; if anyone gives you an invitation, accept it; and if anyone does you a kindness, recompense him; but if you have not the means to do so, pray for him until you feel that you have compensated him.”

[Abu Dawood (1672) and al-Nasa’ee (2567) and Shaikh al-Albaanee said: “It is Saheeh as per the conditions of al-Bukhaaree and Muslim”]

Honoring the Kuffaar?!

Shaikh Ibn Baaz رحمه الله said regarding the statement of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم:

السَّيِّدُ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى

“The Master is Allaah تبارك وتعالى [1]

He صلى الله عليه وسلم feared for them that they might fall into exaggeration (in his praise), even though he صلى الله عليه وسلم is their “Sayyid” and the best of mankind. He صلى الله عليه وسلم feared that in safeguarding the Tawheed (of Allaah تعالى). [2]

Enmity with the Kuffaar

Shaikh Ibn Baaz رحمه الله said:

“The enmity between us and the Jews, and the Christians and the Majoos is in regards to the Deen, and not in regards to the land. And this enmity and hatred will last until they become Believers (and accept Islaam as their only religion).” [1]

Source:

Shaikh Ibn Baaz رحمه الله also said:

“There is no problem in performing Shar`ee Ruqyah (incantation/exorcism based on Qur’aan & Sunnah) on a Kaafir, be he a Jew or a Christian, as long as he is not at war against the Muslims.”

Source:

***

[1] This is in response to those (Muslims) who say: “Our Christian brothers”; and those who say that the `Aqeedah of Muslims (who says Allaah is One) and the Christians (who says He is one of the three) is the same; and those who say that the fighting in Falasteen (Palestine) is because of the land and not the religion.

Imitating the enemies of Allaah

Shaikh Ibn Baaz رحمه الله said:

“Imitating the enemies of Allaah تعالى is from the greatest of evils. Verily, Allaah تعالى has warned us against it, as did the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم warned us against imitating the enemies of Allaah in their `Aqeedah (creed), their actions, and their behavior.”

The Number of Times the Trumpet will be Blown

Shaikh Ibn Baaz رحمه الله said:

“The Trumpet [1] will be blown two times – and this is the correct (opinion): (The first) blowing will cause terror and make people swoon [2]; and (the second) will be blown for the Resurrection [3], as has been evident from the text of the Qur’aan. And the opinion that the Trumpet will be blown three times is weak [4].”
