Aadam عليه السلام And The Apple:

⚡Is there any benefit in learning about the fruit that Aadam عليه السلام ate?

The tree - that Allaah سبحانه وتعالى forbade Aadam and his wive عليهما السلام to eat from, but they still ate from it - no scholar has confirmed what tree it was, and there is nothing in the Book of Allaah or the authentic Sunnah of His Messenger ﷺ to point to a specific tree or fruit.

Whatever has been mentioned about a specific type of tree or fruit, then that has been narrated by some of the Taabi`een (students of the Companions), and most of them are based on Texts from the people of the Book (Jews and Christians). Some of them said it is the fig tree, and some said it is the grapevine, and some said it is wheat, and others said it is barely. But what is more commonly known with the vast majority of the people is that it was the apple. But there is no basis for this.

🎓 Imaam Ibn Jareer رحمه الله, after mentioning the above different opinions, said in his Tafseer of Surah al-Baqarah:
❝The correct opinion is to say: "From among the many trees in Jannah, Allaah تعالى forbade Aadam and his wife from eating from one specific tree. But they both disobeyed in what Allaah تعالى had prohibited for them, and they ate as Allaah تعالى had mentioned in His Book. And we do not know which specific tree it was, because Allaah تعالى did not leave any clue for His slaves, neither in His Book nor in the authentic Sunnah. So, from where did the people come to this conclusion (that it was an apple, or wheat, etc.)?

Some said it was from barely, and some said it was from grapevine, while others said it was from the fig tree. It could be one of them (but we do not know for sure). This is part of knowledge, which, if one came to know about it, it would not benefit him. And if an ignorant remains ignorant about it, his ignorance about this would not harm him."❞
📚 [Tafseer al-Tabaree]

There are many lessons to be learned from the story of Aadam عليه السلام, and learning about the fruit or tree is not one of them.

2. The Treachery Of Hamas

3. The Treachery Of The Jews (Zio∙Nists)

   A) The Prophet Killers

How can a person know his worth with Allaah?!

👉 Always remember, the tongue is the reflection of the heart, while the actions are the reflection of the person’s character.

🔥
As for the tongue being the reflection of the heart, Allaah تعالى said about the Jews and the Mushriks:

قَدْ بَدَتِ الْبَغْضَاءُ مِنْ أَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَمَا تُخْفِي صُدُورُهُمْ أَكْبَرُ

{Hatred has already appeared from their mouths, but what their breasts conceal is far worse.}
📚 [Surah aal-`Imraan (3):118]

🔥 As for the actions being the reflection of a person’s character, the Prophet said:
If you have no shame then do what you like.

The Reality Of This World!

Fear the love of this world that has infatuated our hearts!

For the sake of this Dunya, we come together, we love each other, or break ties of kinship and friendship (except for those who have been protected by Allaah and are under His Mercy).

The three types of trials

🌟 The three types of trials:
1. Trails for elevating the status
2. Trials as a reminder
3. Trials as a punishment

👉
Foremost, you must realize that you were not created for this world. You were created for the Hereafter. Either the permanent bliss in Paradise or the painful punishment in the Hellfire.

💠 THE FIRST TYPE OF PEOPLE:
(Trails for elevating the status)

Perhaps a person may be righteous. His relationship with Allaah is good, upon servitude, obedience, and righteousness, and his sins are less, he is obedient to his parents, he strictly guards the prayers, prays on time, recites the Qur’aan, etc. All his affairs are good! Yet, after all this, he is afflicted with sickness or falls into debt, or loses his job, and he lives in poverty and destitution. He supplicates and supplicates, but it seems to him that his prayers are not being answered.

Explanation of the Hadeeth: Cleanliness Is Half Of Faith

Abu Maalik al-Ash`aree رضي الله عنه reported: The Messenger of Allaah  said:

1. Cleanliness is half of Imaan (Faith),

2. and al-Hamdu Lillaah (Praise be to Allaah) fills the Scale,

3. and Sub-haan Allaah (Glory be to Allaah) and al-Hamdu Lillaah (Praise be to Allaah) fill up what is between the heavens and the earth,

4. and prayer is a light,

5. and charity is proof (of one's faith),

6. and endurance is a brightness,

It is an honor from Allaah when He protects His slaves from committing sins

It is an honor from Allaah تعالى when He protects His slaves from falling into sins

If Allaah comes in between you and a sin, then you will overcome that desire to sin – for it is Allaah تعالى who has saved you from falling into it.

By Allaah, the One there is no One worthy of being worshiped except Him! Allaah does not save a person from committing a sin – over which the person has the ability to carry it out – except when that person enjoys a high status with Allaah. It is an honor from Allaah that He تعالى saved him from falling into that sin.

Allaah تعالى said:

{And indeed she did desire him and he would have inclined to her desire, had he not seen the evidence of his Lord.}

📚[Surah Yusuf (12): 24]

Then Allaah تعالى said:

{Thus it was, that We might turn away from him evil and illegal sexual intercourse.}

📚[Surah Yusuf (12): 24]

The Wisdom of Allaah ﷻ which we always fail to understand

Using examples from three incidents

A Muslim's Faith (Imaan) in Allaah can never be complete till he affirms for Allaah all that which He تعالى has affirmed for Himself in His Book and through His Messenger . We believe in all His Beautiful Names, Lofty Attributes, and Perfect Actions of Allaah…

a) without Takyyeef (without describing the HOW of it),

b) without Tamtheel (without equating them with the creation),

c) without Tashbeeh (without comparing them with the creation),

d) without Ta`teel (without denying or negating them),

e) and without Tahreef (without distorting or changing their meaning).

The wisdom behind not knowing the future

It is from Allaah's mercy that we do not know about our future, or we would have died a thousand deaths (metaphorically) even before the calamity befell us, or our lives would have been miserable just thinking about that which is going to befall us.

Moreover, even if we were given the knowledge of the future, we could not change it because the pens have been lifted and the pages have dried.

The opportunities that lie ahead of us

Allaah تعالى said:

{And hasten to the forgiveness from your Lord and a Garden as wide as the heavens and earth, prepared for the righteous} [Surah aal-`Imraan (3): 133]

And also:

Hadeeth: The two matters that rectify the Ummah and the two that destroy it

Allaah تعالى said:

{Leave them to eat and enjoy, and let them be preoccupied with (false) hope. They will come to know!}
[Surah al-Hijr (15): 3]

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
The first part of this Ummah was rectified[1] through al-Zuhd (asceticism)[2] and al-Yaqeen (firm Faith)[3], and its destruction will be because of al-Bukhl (niggardliness)[4] and al-Amal (false hope)[5].

Seeking Allaah's refuge from the Fitan

It is reported that `Abdullaah Ibn Mas`ood رضي الله عنه said:
One should not say: “I seek Allaah’s refuge from the Fitan”, as there is no one except that he will be tested and put to trials. Rather, if one has to seek refuge then he should say: “I seek Allaah’s refuge from falling into dilemma or going astray because of the Fitan.”

He then recited:

{Your wealth and your children are only a Fitnah} [Surah al-Taghaabun (64): 15]

Ibn Rajab said: “He (Ibn Mas`ood) was indicating that one does not seek Allaah’s refuge from wealth and children, even though they are a Fitnah, (but rather from the dilemma that arises because of them.)”

[Ibn Rajab in الجامع المنتخب (1/104) and al-Tabaraanee in Mu`jam al-Kabeer (8931). Al-Haithamee said in Majma` al-Zawaaid (11959), “it is reported by al-Tabaraanee and its chain is broken in.”]

NOTE: The purpose of this post is to indicate that the Fitnah is not always bitter. At times it can be sweet and tempting, as Allaah تعالى said:

﴿وَنَبْلُوكُم بِالشَّرِّ وَالْخَيْرِ فِتْنَةً ۖ وَإِلَيْنَا تُرْجَعُونَ﴾

{And We shall test you with EVIL and with GOOD as trial; and to Us you will be returned.} [Surah al-Anbiyaa’ (21): 35]

And the Messenger of Allaah said: The (Hell) Fire is surrounded by all kinds of desires and passions, while Paradise is surrounded by all kinds of disliked undesirable things. [Saheehain]

The one who comes out safe from it will be successful, and the one who does not will be left confused, or misled or destroyed, as the Prophet said: Be prompt in doing good deeds (before you are overtaken) by turbulence which would be like a part of the dark night. During (that stormy period) a man would be a Believer in the morning and an unbeliever in the evening or he would be a Believer in the evening and an unbeliever in the morning, and would sell his faith for worldly goods. [Saheeh Muslim (169)]

Contrary to the statement of Ibn Mas`ood, the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم instructed to say:

نَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الْفِتَنِ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ

We seek Allaah’s refuge from the Fitan, both visible and invisible.

[Saheeh Muslim]

Types of calamities:

Calamities are of two types:

1) Affliction in the self: (And this is from the worldly perspective). This includes loss in wealth, health, live, honor, hunger, fear or any other type of physical or psychological loss or affliction. As Allaah تعالى said:

{And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits…} [Surah al-Baqarah (2): 155]

2) Affliction in the Deen: (and this is from the perspective of the Hereafter). Affliction in the Deen is far worse than affliction in the self. As Allaah تعالى said:

{And Al-Fitnah (affliction in the Deen) is worse than killing} [Surah al-Baqarah (2): 191]

And

{...and Al-Fitnah is greater than killing} [Surah al-Baqarah (2): 217]

This includes being afflicted by Shirk, or Bid`ah, or getting confused even after knowing the correct path, or having doubts about the Deen, or belittling the Sunnah, or giving preference to personal opinions over the Texts, or laziness in religious duties, or self-amazement, or following the path of falsehood after being guided etc.

Part of this affliction also includes being prevented from carrying out the religious duties by the enemies, or persecution in the name of religion. As Allaah تعالى said:

{They (the enemies) had nothing against them (the believers), except that they believed in Allaah, the All-Mighty, Worthy of all Praise!} [Surah al-Burooj (85): 8]

Affliction in the Deen can lead to misguidance and eternal damnation. Moreover, the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم frequently used to supplicate saying:

يَا مُقَلِّبَ القُلُوبِ، ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ

O Changer of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion. [Sunan al-Tirmidhee and Sunan Ibn Maajah, and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

Between Hot and Cold:

بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله ، وبعد

USING COLD WATER FOR DRINKING AND AS A CURE

As a cure to Ayyoob’s عليه السلام sickness, Allaah تعالى said to him:

﴿ارْكُضْ بِرِجْلِكَ ۖ هَـٰذَا مُغْتَسَلٌ بَارِدٌ وَشَرَابٌ﴾

{“Strike the ground with your foot: This is a spring of water to wash in, cool and a (refreshing) drink.”}
[Surah al-Saad (38): 41]

***

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
Fever is from the (intense) heat of the Hell-Fire, so cool it with water.
[Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (3261, 3262, 3263, 3264, 5723, 5724, 5725, 5726) and Saheeh Muslim (5476, 5477, 5478, 5479, 5480, 5482, 5484, 5485)]

PREFERABLE NOT TO EAT WHILE THE FOOD IS INTENSELY HOT

It has been authentically reported from Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه that he said: One should not eat the food until its steam goes away.
[Sunan al-Baihaqee and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee in al-Saheehah (1/748)]

***

Whenever Asmaa’ bint Abu Bakr رضي الله عنها prepared food, she used to cover it with something till its boil went away (and it had cooled down a bit), and she used to say: I heard the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم saying: It is for greater blessing.
[Saheeh Ibn Hibaan and Mustadrak of al-Haakim and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee in al-Saheehah (392, 659)]

PREFERABLE TO DELAY THE DHUHR SALAAH WHEN IT IS INTENSELY HOT

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
Refrain from praying (Dhuhr - the noon prayer) till the extreme heat passes away, for the Intensity of heat is from the exhalation of Hell.
[Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (533, 535, 536, 538, 539, 629, 3258, 3259) and Saheeh Muslim (1282, 1284, 1285, 1287, 1288, 1289, 1290, 1291)]

Situations when jesting become a serious offense:

بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله ، وبعد

1) Mocking or making fun of any aspect of the Deen is Kufr:
﴿وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُمْ لَيَقُولُنَّ إِنَّمَا كُنَّا نَخُوضُ وَنَلْعَبُ ۚ قُلْ أَبِاللَّـهِ وَآيَاتِهِ وَرَسُولِهِ كُنتُمْ تَسْتَهْزِئُونَ * لَا تَعْتَذِرُوا قَدْ كَفَرْتُم بَعْدَ إِيمَانِكُمْ﴾

{If you ask them (about this), they declare: "We were only talking idly and joking." Say: "Was it at Allaah, and His Aayaat (proofs, evidences, verses, etc.) and His Messenger that you were mocking?” Make no excuse; you have disbelieved after you had believed.} [Surah al-Tawbah (9): 65-66]

Making fun of any aspect of the Deen or the Sunnah of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم like making fun of the beard or about maintaining the lower garments above the ankles etc.

2) It is counted as a divorce even if the person uttering it was only jesting:
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: There are three matters in which seriousness is serious and joking is serious: marriage, divorce and taking back (one's wife after divorce which is not final). [Sunan Ibn Maajah (2039), Sunan Abu Dawood (2194) and Sunan al-Tirmidhee (1184) and graded as “Hasan” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

3) Lying while joking:
Mu’aawiyah ibn Haydah رضي الله عنه said: I heard the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم say: Woe to the one who talks to make the people laugh and tells lies, woe to him, woe to him. [Sunan al-Tirmidhee (2315) and Sunan Abu Dawood (4990) and graded as “Hasan” by Shaikh al-Albaanee].

4) Practical jokes and pranks:
Narrated `Abdullaah ibn as-Saa’ib ibn Yazeed رضي الله عنه: The Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: None of you should take the property of his brother in amusement (i.e. jest), nor in earnest. If anyone takes the staff of his brother, he should return it. [Sunan Abu Dawood (5003) and graded as “Hasan” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

5) Scaring people:
Narrated `Abdul Rahmaan ibn Abu Layla: The Companions of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم told us that they were travelling with the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم. A man among them went to sleep, and another one of them went to the rope which he had with him. He took it, by which he (the one who was sleeping) got frightened. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: It is not lawful for a Muslim that he frightens a Muslim. [Sunan Abu Dawood (5004) and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

The 3 afflictions which daily affect every human being

Every day and every night, the children of Aadam are affected by the 3 afflictions. Not a day goes by except that they are afflicted by all the 3 of them.

THE FIRST AFFLICTION:

His lifespan is reduced everyday. He does not care much about his lifespan being reduced, but if there is any reduction in his wealth, he starts worrying. What he forgets is that wealth is recoverable but not the lifespan.

THE SECOND AFFLICTION:

Every day he consumes the sustenance provided to him by Allaah. If it is Halaal, he will be questioned about it [Surah al-Takaathur (102): 8]. But if it is through Haraam means, then he will be punished for it; and no one knows the extent of the punishment except Allaah.

THE THIRD AFFLICTION:

Every day he is nearing the Aakhirah by some distance; while at the same time he is being distanced from this worldly life by some distance. But his concern for the EVERLASTING HEREAFTER is nothing as compared to his concern for this FLEETING WORLD. He does not know if his abode will be the highest station in Paradise or the lowest depths of Hell.

O Allaah! Do not make this world our greatest concern, nor the limit of our knowledge. And do not set our path leading towards Hell. And make Paradise our final abode.

Everyone will receive their share of the Dunya:

بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله ، وبعد

Allaah تعالى gives the share of the Dunya to all - those who love it and those who hate it, but He تعالى does not give the Aakhirah except to those who love it.

{That home of the Hereafter (i.e. Paradise), We shall assign to those who rebel not against the truth with pride and oppression in the land nor do mischief by committing crimes. And the good end is for the Muttaqoon} [Surah al-Qasas (28): 83]

Narrated `Ubada bin As-Saamit: The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Who-ever loves to meet Allaah, Allaah (too) loves to meet him and whoever hates to meet Allaah, Allaah (too) hates to meet him.” `Aaishah رضي الله عنها said: “But we dislike death.” He صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “It is not like this, but it is meant that when the time of the death of a believer approaches, he receives the good news of Allaah’s pleasure with him and His blessings upon him, and so at that time nothing is dearer to him than what is in front of him. He therefore loves the meeting with Allaah, and Allaah (too) loves the meeting with him. But when the time of the death of a disbeliever approaches, he receives the evil news of Allaah’s torment and His Requital, whereupon nothing is more hateful to him than what is before him. Therefore, he hates the meeting with Allaah, and Allaah too, hates the meeting with him.” [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (6507) and Saheeh Muslim (6488)]

The first step towards righteousness

The first step towards righteousness is by leaving off evil and the paths leading towards it.

The Evil actions are:

1. Every action which opposes the Book of Allaah تعالى or the Sunnah of His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم is evil. Example: Shirk, Kufr, Hypocrisy, Bid`ah.

2. Every action which has been prohibited in the Book of Allaah تعالى or the Sunnah of His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم is evil. Example: Gambling, consuming intoxicants, pigs and dead animals.

3. Every action which has been cursed in the Book of Allaah تعالى or the Sunnah of His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم is evil. Example: dealing in Ribaa (usurious transactions), hiding knowledge, accusing a chaste woman of immoral acts, tattooing.

4. Every action which has been threatened with punishment - in this world or the Hereafter - in the Book of Allaah تعالى or the Sunnah of His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم is evil. Example: causing mischief on earth, turning away from Allaah’s remembrance.

5. Every action which has Hadd (legal punishment) prescribed in the Book of Allaah تعالى or the Sunnah of His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم is evil. Example: illegal sexual intercourse, theft.

6. Every action which distances a person from Allaah تعالى or the Sunnah of His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم is evil. Example: listening to music, watching movies, engaging in idle talks.

7. Every action which is HATED by Allaah تعالى or His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم is evil. Example: oppression, pride, being ungratefulness to Allaah تعالى.

8. Every action supplicated against by the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم is evil. Example: not sending Salaah upon the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم when his name is mentioned, not benefiting from the month of Ramadhaan, and being disobedient to the parents.

9. Every action from which the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم distanced himself by saying: “I am free of him…” or “…he is not from me” or “…he is not from us”, is evil. Example: “The one who deceives is not of me.” [Saheeh Muslim]

10. Every action which is not legislated in the Deen, but a person still does it expecting a reward from Allaah or thinks that it is a religious duty, is evil. Example: Bid`ah of celebrating the Prophet’s birthday, wiping the neck while making Wudhu.

[A lot of sins like Shirk, Kufr will qualify for all the above categories, but were not repeated for the sake of brevity]
