Religion Misunderstood (Poem)

This is a poem about the mental condition and the understanding of the religion by many who claim to be practicing Islaam. This is based on an Urdu poem by the prose writer, Altaf Hussain Haali. His book, “Mussadas-e-Haali” was the most famous book of the 20th century in Muslims of India during the reign of the British. The book examines the state of social and moral degradation prevalent in the contemporary Muslim society, for it contained the mistakes and the reasons for the downfall of the Muslim empire in India. This book was used for upraising the morale of Muslims. But in our age this is not limited to India alone, this can be widely applied everywhere, throughout the world, wherever the Muslims live. (Disclaimer: This is not an exact translation but I relied on that extensively with a few additions and modifications).

Win the hearts and attack them when they're the least expecting (Part 2/2)

...Either through direct preaching or through entertainment.

Part #2 (Entertainment)

Entertainment in the name of Islaam is another sickness plaguing the Muslim Ummah.

The first Aayah and Command that was revealed was to READ, but many amongst us don't want to read. There are many educated ignorant amongst us; educated in the terms of worldly knowledge, but ignorant when it comes to religious knowledge. As Allaah تعالى says:

Win the hearts and attack them when they're the least expecting (Part 1/2)

...Either through direct preaching or through entertainment.

 Part #1 (Direct preaching)

We have learned from our scholars and the Salaf that if an innovator would come directly with his Bid`ah (religious innovation), people would run away from him. So, they disguise themselves as pious, well-wishers, sincere advisors etc. And the first one to play this role was Iblees himself:

Removing the Doubts: “Not all Ahl al-Kitaab are Kaafir”

Some of the Western speakers misinterpret the Aayah # 105 of Surah al-Baqarah to support their claim that not all Ahl al-Kitaab are Kaafir. Among such people who spread this misunderstanding are Nouman Ali Khan, Hamza Yusuf and others.

NOTE: This is a 4 part response to the claim that “not all Ahl al-Kitaab are Kaafir” which were posted as different posts on Facebook over the years.

PART 1:

Explanation of Surah al-Baqarah (2), Aayah (105) by Shaikh Ibn al`Uthaymeen

For those who have already watched that (in)famous 3 minute clip of Nouman Ali Khan where he used his logic to conclude that not ALL Ahl al-Kitaab are Kaafir, this is the response from Shaikh al-`Uthaymeen's Tafseer.

Removing the Doubts: "Limiting the Names of Allaah to 99" - by Shaikh `Abdul-Razzaaq al-Badr

The Names of Allaah تعالى are not limited to 99 in numbers

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said: Whoever knows Allaah through His (Beautiful) Names and (Lofty) Attributes and His (Perfect) Actions, he will undoubtedly love Allaah (more and more). [Madaarij al-Saalikeen (3/18)]

Shaikh `Abdul-Razzaaq Ibn `Abdul Mohsin al-Badr حفظه الله said:
One of the most important principles regarding the Names and Attributes of Allaah تعالى is that the Beautiful Names of Allaah are not confined, nor are they limited to a certain number. In the Sunnah of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, evidences regarding this have been mentioned numerous times - that are clear and bright. From this is what has been mentioned in Saheeh Muslim:

Removing the Doubts: Increasing the area of washing during Wudhoo’

Introduction:

This is a short clarification of the Ahaadeeth of Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه regarding the statement: “whoever can increase the area of his radiance while making Wudhoo’ (ablution) should do so.” The clarification is from the statements of the scholars including Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn al-Qayyim, Ibn Baaz, Ibn al-`Uthaymeen and al-Albaanee رحمهم الله. Their statements have been summarized, paraphrased and arranged in points for short reading and better understanding.

The Ahaadeeth:

Removing the Doubts: Hate the sin and not the sinner!

One misconception which some people like to spread is:

“We should hate the sin (i.e. the action) and not the sinner (i.e. the one who does it).”
“We should hate the evil and not the evildoer.”
“We should hate the crime and not the criminal.”

Firstly, those who say the above have no evidence to support their claim. Moreover, if the above was true, then its opposite should also be true:

Brief Comments on Riyaadh al-Saaliheen #85

Ma`iyyah (معية: "Withness") of Allaah with His creation
[Removing the Doubts: Allaah being with His creation does not mean that He تعالى is everywhere]

The saying of Allaah

{Truly! Allaah is with As-Saabireen (the patient ones)} [Surah al-Baqarah (2): 153]

Shaikh Ibn al-`Uthaymeen رحمه الله said:

Meaning: this Ma`iyyah (معية: “Withness”) is a specific one because the Ma`iyyah of Allaah سبحانه وتعالى (with His creation) is of two types: a general type and a specific.

Removing the Doubts: Did Abu Hurairah take knowledge from Shaitaan?

To attain their goal, some people leave out the obvious facts and chase that which is untrue or not entirely clear. This is also true in the case of those who say: “Take the good and leave the bad”, and in support of their claim, allege that Abu Hurairah took knowledge from Shaitaan. This principle has already been tackled and refuted by the scholars [1]; the purpose now is to analyze their evidence which they bring to support their principle.

Removing the Doubts: Scholars don’t know Current events?!

Answered by Shaykh Al-Albaanee (1420 H)

Questioner: When you mention the statement:

فَاسْأَلُوا أَهْلَ الذِّكْرِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ

{So ask the people of knowledge, if you do not know.} [Surah al-Nahl (16): 43]

There come some doubts from the youth when the likes Shaykh Al-Albaanee, or Shaykh `Abdul `Azeez bin Baaz, or others are mentioned to them. They reply to them saying: Shaykh al-Albaanee or Shaykh `Abdul `Azeez bin Baaz, they have understanding in Fiqh issues, and Hadeeth, and these affairs. As for the affairs of Jihaad and fighting they require experience. So whom will we take them matters from? From those on the front lines and from those who know these affairs.

Removing the Doubts: when to say "laa haula walaa quwwata illaa billaah", and its meaning.

Removing the Doubts: How the gates of Jannah and Jahannam will open?

Allaah تعالى says about the gates of Hell:

﴿وَسِيقَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ زُمَرًا ۖ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا جَاءُوهَا فُتِحَتْ أَبْوَابُهَا﴾

{And those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in groups, till, when they reach it, the gates thereof will be opened…} [Surah al-Zumar (39): 71]

And He تعالى says about the gates of Paradise:

﴿وَسِيقَ الَّذِينَ اتَّقَوْا رَبَّهُمْ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ زُمَرًا ۖ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا جَاءُوهَا وَفُتِحَتْ أَبْوَابُهَا﴾

{And those who kept their duty to their Lord will be led to Paradise in groups, till, when they reach it, and its gates will be opened…} [Surah al-Zumar (39): 73]

Removing the Doubts: Can we judge someone’s intention?

It is sometimes observed that when a person makes a mistake and another one comes up to correct him, a third person would be found saying: “Who are you to judge him? Only Allaah knows his intention” (or something similar).

Yes, we cannot judge someone based on his intention, as has been clarified in this Hadeeth:

Removing the Doubts: The concept of “Haraam Maut” (Unlawful Death)

Growing-up I used to hear that whenever a person died in an accident, some people would term it as “Haraam maut”, literally meaning that the person – who met a sudden end due to an accident - died at a time when he was not supposed to have died.

Removing The Doubts: Did Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه do injustice to the family of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم?

Hadeeth #1:

Narrated `Aaishah (mother of the believers) رضي الله عنها: “After the death of Allaah’s Apostle صلى الله عليه وسلم, Faatimah عليها السلام, the daughter of Allaah’s Apostle, asked Abu Bakr Al-Siddeeq رضي الله عنه to give her her share of inheritance from what Allaah’s Apostle had left of the Fai (i.e. booty gained without fighting) which Allaah had given him. Abu Bakr said to her: “Allaah’s Apostle صلى الله عليه وسلم said: ‘Our property will not be inherited, whatever we (i.e. prophets) leave is sadaqah (to be used for charity)’”. Faatimah عليها السلام, the daughter of Allaah’s Apostle got angry and stopped speaking to Abu Bakr, and continued assuming that attitude till she died. Faatimah عليها السلام remained alive for six months after the death of Allaah’s Apostle صلى الله عليه وسلم. She used to ask Abu Bakr for her share from the property of Allaah’s Apostle which he left at Khaibar, and Fadak, and his property at Madeenah (devoted for charity). Abu Bakr refused to give her that property and said: “I will not leave anything Allaah’s Apostle used to do, because I am afraid that if I left something from the Prophet’s tradition, then I would go astray.” (Later on) `Umar gave the Prophet's property (of sadaqa) at Madeenah to `Alee and `Abbaas, but he withheld the properties of Khaibar and Fadak in his custody and said: “These two properties are the sadaqah which Allaah’s Apostle صلى الله عليه وسلم used to use for his expenditures and urgent needs. Now their management is to be entrusted to the ruler.” (Al-Zuhree (d. 52H) said: “They have been managed in this way till today.”) [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (3091) and Saheeh Muslim (3311)]

Removing The Doubts: Hubb or `Ishq, which is the right word?

They, the heretic Soofees, claim to love Allaah تعالى and His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم; and the word they use is: `Ishq (عِشق) which literally means “romance”.

Removing The Doubts: Hadeeth on "Completion of 100 Years"

The Hadeeth:

Narrated `Abdullaah bin `Umar: Once the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم led us in the `Ishaa’ prayer during the last days of his life and after finishing it (the prayer) (with Taslim) he صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Do you realize (the importance of) this night? Nobody present on the surface of the earth tonight will be living after the completion of one hundred years from this night.” [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (116, 564, 601) & Saheeh Muslim (4611)]

Removing The Doubts: The Existence Of al-Dajjaal

Introduction:

Alhamdulillaah! With the advent of technology, the access to any Aayah of the Qur’aan or a Hadeeth is only a click away. And so many Islaamic literatures have been translated and are available over the internet free of charge.

But like everything in this world, it has its advantages and disadvantages. One of the bigger issues seen nowadays is that the young ones* among us are taking everything available over the internet, neither confirming the sources nor checking the authenticity.

Removing the Doubts: Hoor: Their Correct Gender

This treatise has been divided into five categories in order to expound on the subject:

A. The importance of following the texts (the Book of Allaah and the Ahaadeeth of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم) in the matters of the unseen.
