Three Weak Ahaadeeth regarding Surah al-Waaqi`ah

🚩1. From Ibn Mas`ood that the Prophet is supposed to have said:
Whoever recites Surah al-Waaqi`ah every night would never encounter poverty.
📚 [Graded as “Dha`eef” (Weak) by Shaikh al-Albaanee in al-Dha`eefah (289). Others who graded this as Weak are al-Dhahabee, Imaam Ahmad, Ibn al-Jawzee, Abu Haatim, al-Daraqutnee, al-Manawee]

🚩2. From Ibn `Abbaas that the Prophet  is supposed to have said:
Whoever recites Surah al-Waaqi`ah every night would never encounter poverty; and whoever recites Surah al-Qiyaamah every night will meet Allaah (on the Day of Judgment) while his face will be (shining) like the moon when it is full.
📚 [Graded as “Mawdhoo`” (Fabricated) by Shaikh al-Albaanee in al-Dha`eefah (290). Al-Suyootee said, Ahmad al-Yamaamee (in of its narrators) is a liar]

🚩3. From Anas that the Prophet  is supposed to have said:
Whoever recites Surah al-Waaqi`ah and teaches it, will never be recorded among the negligent, and neither he nor his family will suffer poverty.

📚 [Graded as “Mawdhoo`” (Fabricated) by Shaikh al-Albaanee in al-Dha`eefah (291). Al-Suyootee said, `Abdul-Quddoos (in of its narrators) is abandoned, and Ibn al-Mubaarak said that he was a liar]

When things get expensive

Some people approached Abu Haazim complaining to him, saying: “O Abu Haazim! Do you not see that the prices (of commodities) have gone up?!” He replied: Why does that distress you? The One (i.e. Allaah) who provides sustenance for us when the things are inexpensive is the same Who will provide for us when it gets expensive.
[al-Hilyah (3/239)]

Bishr Ibn al-Haarith said: If the increase in prices distresses you out, then remember death, for it will take away from you the distress of the increase in prices.
[al-Hilyah (8/347)]

The Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: Remember more often the destroyer of pleasures. (i.e. death)
[Sunan al-Tirmidhee (2307), Sunan Ibn Maajah (4258), and Sunan al-Nasaa’ee (1824) and graded as “Hasan Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

Brief Comments on Riyaadh al-Saaliheen #106

Chapter: Spending on your family and those under your care

Narrated Sa`d bin Abi Waqqaas رضي الله عنه: Allaah’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم said: You will be rewarded for whatever you spend for Allaah’s sake even if it were a morsel which you put in your wife’s mouth.
[Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (56, 1295, 4409, 5668, 6373, 6733) and Saheeh Muslim (3991)]

And in another narration he صلى الله عليه وسلم said: And what you spend as charity from your property is Sadaqah and your spending on your family is also Sadaqah, and what your wife eats from your property is also Sadaqah.
[Saheeh Muslim (3997)]

Abu Hurairah reported Allaah’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم as saying: Of the Dinaar you spend in Allaah’s way (Jihaad), or to set free a slave, or as a Sadaqah given to a needy, or to support your family, the one yielding the greatest reward is that which you spent on your family. [Saheeh Muslim (2181)]

Tafseer: Whom do you hire for work?

Allaah تعالى mentions about one of the sisters whom Moosaa عليه السلام had helped:

﴿قَالَتْ إِحْدَاهُمَا يا أَبَتِ اسْتَـْجِرْهُ إِنَّ خَيْرَ مَنِ اسْتَـْجَرْتَ الْقَوِىُّ الأَمِينُ﴾

{And said one of them (the two women): “O my father! Hire him! Verily, the best of men for you to hire is the strong, the trustworthy.”} [Surah al-Qasas (28): 26]

Tafseer: The reason why provision is not increased

{And if Allaah were to enlarge the provision for His slaves, they would surely rebel in the earth, but He sends down by measure as He wills. Verily, He is, in respect of His slaves, Well-Acquainted, All-Seer (of things that benefit them). And He it is Who sends down the rain after they have despaired, and spreads His Mercy. And He is the Walee (Helper, Supporter, Protector, Lord), the Worthy of all praise.} [Surah al-Shooraa (42): 27-28]]

Means for Increasing Sustenance & Livelihood

Introduction:

This was a part of the khutbah delivered by the Imaam and Khateeb of the Um al-Quraa Masjid, Abu Abdul-`Azeez Ibraheem al-Sanaidi, near my house in Jeddah in the beginning of the year 2006. This khutbah, walhamdulillaah, was so beneficial that I requested the Khateeb to give me a copy of it. So here it is, the English translation of the same, for everyone’s benefit, inshaa-Allaah:
