"
Imaam
al-Daarimee reports in his Sunan that Abu al-Mugheerah informed us, that
al-Awza`ee narrated to us, on the authority of Hassaan (bin `Attiyah) said: “People
do not introduce a bid`ah (innovation) in their religion except that Allaah
takes away from them (by causing them to forget or be negligent about) the
Sunnah equivalent to it, and then it will not be returned back to them till the
Day of Judgment.”
An
example: A person who shaves his beard is also deprived of the Sunnah of wiping
his beard while making wudhoo:
`Uthmaan bin `Affaan رضي الله عنه narrated that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم used to run his (wet fingers) through his beard. [Al-Tirmidhee (31), and al-Tirmidhee (29) and Ibn Maajah (430) also reported it from `Ammaar bin Yaasir رضي الله عنهما, Ibn Jaarood (43) and al-Haakim (1/149) who declared its Sanad as “Saheeh” as did Ibn Khuzaimah and Ibn Hibbaan, and also graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee. See the note in al-Baghagawi's “Sharh us-Sunnah” (1/421)].
Anas رضي الله عنه narrates that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, when he made wudhoo, used to take a handful of water and enter it below his chin and rub it through his beard and said: “This is what my Lord تبارك وتعالى has ordered me to do.” [Abu Dawood (145), al-Baihaqee (1/54), al-Haakim (1/149). Al-Haakim graded it as “Saheeh” and al-Dhahabee agreed with him. It was also graded it as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee in “Saheeh ul-Jaami'” (4696)].
Allaah
تعالى says:
﴿وَالَّذِينَ اهْتَدَوْاْ
زَادَهُمْ هُدًى وَءَاتَـهُمْ تَقُوَاهُمْ ﴾
{And as for those who accept guidance, He increases them
in guidance and bestows on them their Taqwa}
[Surah Muhammad (47): 17]
So,
those who seek guidance and want to
follow the Sunnah, Allaah will facilitate it for them; He guides them to it,
makes them firm on it, and gives them more of it; and He inspires them
to their righteous guidance.
