What is "al-Hajj al-Akbar"?

بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله ، وبعد

⚡️What is "al-Hajj al-Akbar"?
⚡️Does the reward for al-Hajj increases if it falls on a Friday?

👉PART 1:

🚫 The Weak/Baseless narrations about the "merit" when the Day of al-`Arafah comes on a Friday - which people wrongly consider as "al-Hajj al-Akbar" or that it has special virtues:

1️⃣ “The best day on which the sun has risen is the Day of `Arafah which coincides with Friday, (performing Hajj) in it is better than Seventy Hajjs performed in other days.”
📚 [Silsilah al-Hadeeth al-Dha`eefah (1193, 3144).  Shaikh al-Albaanee said: “This Hadeeth is Baatil (baseless) and has no origin.”]

2️⃣ “The most superior day is the Day of `Arafah which coincides with Friday, (performing Hajj) in it is better than Seventy Hajj performed in days other than Friday.”
📚 [Silsilah al-Hadeeth al-Dha`eefah (207).  Shaikh al-Albaanee said: “This Hadeeth is Baatil (baseless) and has no origin.”]

3️⃣ Ibn Hajar said: “As for what Razeen (bin Mu`aawiyah) has mentioned in his book “Jaami`ah” attributing the narration to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم that: “The best day on which the sun has risen is the Day of `Arafah which coincides with Friday, (performing Hajj) in it is better than Seventy Hajj performed in other days.”, then this Hadeeth, I do not know of its condition (authenticity), for he (Razeen) did not mention the name of the Companion who reported this nor from where he took this Hadeeth.”
📚 [Fath al-Baaree (8/271)]

4️⃣ Ibn al-Qayyim said: “As for (the narration) that has become widespread upon the tongues of the people that it is like performing Seventy-Two Hajj, is baseless and there is no origin for it, neither from the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم nor from the Companions or Taabi`een.”
📚 [Zaad al-Ma`aad (1/65)]

5️⃣ Al-Manaawee also said in: “What has become widespread (among the people) that it is equal to performing Seventy-Two Hajj, is baseless, without any origin as al-Haafidh (Ibn Hajar) has mentioned.”
📚 [Faidh al-Qadeer (2/28)]

6️⃣ Shaikh al-Albaanee further said said: “Know that this book of Razeen, “Tajreed al-Sihaah”, is a collection of Ahaadeeth from the Six Canonical books: The Two Saheehs, Muwatta of Maalik, and the Sunans of Abu Dawood, al-Nasaa’ee and al-Tirmidhee, basing his work on the book of Ibn al-Atheer which is known as “Jaami` al-Usool min Ahaadeeth al-Rasool”, except that in “al-Tajreed”, (Razeen) mentioned many Ahaadeeth which have no origin in these Six books (of Hadeeth); this is known to those scholars who have narrated from him like al-Mundhiree in “Targheeb wal-Tarheeb”. Similarly, this Hadeeth has no origin in these (Six) books nor in any other known books of Hadeeth.”
📚 [al-Dha`eefah (1/373/207)]

👉PART 2:

✅️ The clarification:

Al-Hajj al-Akbar is the Day of Nahr (sacrifice), the Day of `Eid (10th Dhul Hijjah) and it is not affected with the Day of `Arafah if it comes on Friday or not.

👉The Ahaadeeth:

Narrated `Alee رضي الله عنه: “I asked the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم about the day of Al-Hajj Al-Akbar, and he said: “The day of al-Nahr.”
📚[Sunan al-Tirmidhee (957, 3088) and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

Narrated Ibn `Umar رضي الله عنهما: On the Day of Nahr (10th of Dhul-Hijjah), the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم stood in between the Jamraat (in Minaa) during his Hajj which he performed and said: “This is the day of al-Hajj al-Akbar (the greatest Day of Hajj).”  The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم started saying repeatedly: “O Allaah! Be Witness (I have conveyed Your Message).” He then bade the people farewell. The people said: “This is Hajjat-al-Wada` (farewell Pilgrimage).”
📚[Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (1742)]

Narrated `Abdullaah ibn `Umar رضي الله عنهما: The Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم halted on the day of Nahr between the Jamraat (pillars at Minaa) during Hajj which he performed. He asked: “Which is this day?” They replied: This is the day of Nahr (sacrifice). He صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “This is the day of greater Hajj.”
📚[Sunan Abu Dawood (1945) and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

Narrated Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه: Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه, on the day of Nahr (i.e. slaughtering of animals for sacrifice), sent me in the company of others to make this announcement: “After this year, no pagan will be allowed to perform the Hajj, and none will be allowed to perform the Tawaaf of the Ka`ba undressed.” And the day of al-Hajj al-Akbar is the day of Nahr, and it is called al-Akbar because the people call al-`Umrah as Al-Hajj al-Asghar (i.e. the minor Hajj). Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه threw back the pagans' covenant that year, and therefore, no pagan performed the Hajj in the year of Hajj-ul-Wada` of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.
📚[Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (3177, 4657)]

Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه was appointed as an Ameer for this Hajj, this was a year prior to the Farewell Pilgrimage of Allaah’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم.
📚 [Saheeh Muslim (3125)]

Narrated Humaid bin `Abdur Rahmaan: Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه said: “During that Hajj (in which Abu Bakr was the chief of the pilgrims) Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه sent me along with announcers on the Day of Nahr in Mina to announce: “No pagans shall perform Hajj after this year, and none shall perform the Tawaaf around the Ka`bah in a naked state.” Humaid bin `Abdur Rahmaan added: Then Allaah’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم sent `Alee bin Abu Taalib رضي الله عنه (after Abu Bakr) and ordered him to recite aloud in public Surah al-Bara’ah (Surah al-Tawbah). Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه added: “So `Alee, along with us, recited Bara’ah (loudly) before the people at Mina on the Day of Nahr and announced: “No pagan shall perform Hajj after this year and none shall perform the Tawaaf around the Ka`bah in a naked state.”
📚[Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (369, 4655, 4656)]
