The news of every Bakr and Zaid??!

بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله ، وبعد

In the wake of recent events, this is a general reminder for the brothers and sisters not to get involved in matters which are above their ability to understand and manage. Let the scholars deal with it. Don't put yourselves ahead of the Scholars. By being far away, in another country, what can we do except to aid them financially and to pray for them. Is there any support better than Allaah’s - The One who destroyed the people of Nooh عليه السلام with flood; the One who destroyed the `Aad by furious wind; the One who destroyed Thamood by a single Saihah (cry); the One who protected Ibraaheem عليه السلام from the fire; the One who rained stones from heavens upon the people of Loot عليه السلام; the One who protected the Ka`bah by sending fleet of birds upon Abrahah?

Do not be deceived by these keyboard warriors, about whom Shaikh al-Fawzaan حفظه الله said: "it is amazing that some of them give Khutbah and incite the children of the Muslims (towards Jihaad) while he himself sits at his home eating and drinking.”

These keyboard warriors will spend hours debating about Jihad and inciting the people towards it. But when the time comes for them to take action; they will make excuse for themselves. Ask them what are they doing except shouting from far off!

O Brothers and sisters! Stick to the Qu’aan and the Sunnah. Stick to the scholars, benefit from them while they are still alive. Learn about that which will directly affect your Aakhirah. Do not listen to every Bakr and Zaid over the internet. Do not get involved in matters about which you cannot do anything except Du`aa.

Verily! Allaah تعالى said:

{And when there comes to them information about [public] security or fear, they spread it around. But if only they had referred it back to the Messenger or to those of authority among them (the scholars), then the ones who [can] draw correct conclusions from it would have known about it. And if not for the favor of Allaah upon you and His mercy, you would have followed Satan, except for a few.} [Surah al-Nisaa’ (4): 83]

Tafseer of Shaikh Al-Sa`dee رحمه الله:

Allaah تبارك وتعالى is disciplining His slaves from doing things which does not suites them; and when any important news comes to them concerning the safety and security of the Muslims or the fear that there is a calamity coming upon them – they should (first) confirm the news and should not be hasty in spreading that news. Rather, they should refer it back to the Messenger of صلى الله عليه وسلم or those in authority among them from the people of understanding, knowledge and sound intellect - those who understand the matter and who know what is beneficial and what opposes it. So when they see that disclosing it is beneficial and in the interest of the believers, delighting them and a source of protection from their enemies, they do it. But when they see that it is not beneficial or that there is some benefit but the disruption is more, they do not spread it. That is why Allaah تعالى said: {then the ones who [can] draw correct conclusions from it would have known about it}, meaning: they would disclose it after careful consideration, proper reviews and sound knowledge.

In this (verse), there is guidance towards the moral rule (in this regards), i.e. whenever there is a discussion about an issue from the issues (of Islaam), then they should surrender the matter to those who are its people (i.e. the scholars) and should refer back to them and that they should not push forward their own opinions among themselves. This (method) is closest to the truth and more secured from making errors. And in this there is prohibition of being hasty in spreading every news which is heard. The matter should be looked into and studied properly before speaking about it. Is it in the interest so that is should be forwarded? Or is it otherwise so that it should be concealed?

Thereafter Allaah تعالى said:

{And if not for the favor of Allaah upon you and His mercy}, meaning: in reconciling you, disciplining you and teaching you that which you knew not; {you would have followed Satan, except for a few}. This is because by nature man is oppressive and ignorant. His self does not call him except towards evil. Therefore, if he seeks refuge with Allaah and clings on to it and strives in that; his Lord will deal with him with Kindness and will guide him towards every good and will protect him from every accursed Shaitaan.

Tafseer al-Muyassar (by a group of prominent scholars):

So if these people, in whose heart Imaan has still not settled down, come to you with news which needs to be concealed – which either relates to the security of Islaam and the Muslims or relating to the fear, which is in their hearts and is casting uncertainty – instead (of concealing) they disclose it and circulate the news among the people.

Had they only referred back to the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم (when he was alive or to his Sunnah after his death) or the people of knowledge and understanding with such news; the knowledgeable among them would have made clear its true meaning.

Had not Allaah تعالى favored you and had mercy on you, you would have followed the Shaitaan and his whispers except for a few amongst you.

Tafseer of Imaam Ibn Katheer رحمه الله:

Allaah تعال said:

﴿وَإِذَا جَآءَهُمْ أَمْرٌ مِّنَ الاٌّمْنِ أَوِ الْخَوْفِ أَذَاعُواْ بِهِ﴾

{When there comes to them some matter touching (public) safety or fear, they make it known (among the people);} (Allaah is) chastising those who indulge in things before being sure of their truth, disclosing them, making them known and spreading their news, even though such news might not be true at all. In the introduction to his Saheeh, Imaam Muslim recorded that Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه said that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

كَفَى بِالْمَرْءِ كَذِبًا أَنْ يُحَدِّثَ بِكُلِّ مَا سَمِع

“It is sufficient that a man has lied who narrates everything that he hears.”

This is the same narration collected by Abu Dawood in the section of Adab (manners) in his Sunan.

In the Two Saheehs, it is recorded that Al-Mugheerah bin Shu`bah said that the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم prohibited: “It was said,” and, “So-and-so said.” This Hadeeth refers to those who often convey the speech that people utter without investigating the reliability and truth of what he is disclosing.

This Ayah refers to proper investigation or extraction of matters from their proper resources.
