Book of Prayer: Chapter: Imaam preaching the people to correct their prayer

Narrated Abu Hurairah: Allaah's Apostle صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Do you consider or see that my face is towards the Qiblah? By Allaah, neither your submissiveness nor your bowing is hidden from me, surely I see you from my back.” [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (418, 741)]

Narrated Anas bin Maalik: The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم led us in a prayer and then got up on the pulpit and said: “In your prayer and bowing, I certainly see you from my back as I see you (while looking at you.)”[1] [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (419) The wording of another Hadeeth reported by al-Bukhaaree (742, 6644) and Muslim (649, 650) is: “Perform the bowing and the prostration properly (with peace of mind), for, by Him in Whose Hand my soul is, I see you from behind my back when you bow and when you prostrate.”]

[1] In these two Ahaadeeth there is a message that Allaah تعالى specially chose for His Messenger a lofty position and that is (the ability) to see from behind the back during the prayer, as he صلى الله عليه وسلم would see (normally) from the front. And in these (Ahaadeeth), there is a warning to guard (and offer the prayer) with humility and tranquility. And in it, there is evidence for the Imaam to warn (and correct the prayer of the followers).
