Destruction of the `Arabs: From the Portents of the Last Hour

بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله ، وبعد

Authentic Ahaadeeth:

The Prophet ﷺ said:

❝People will flee from the Dajjaal seeking shelter in the mountains.❞ Umm Shaarik said: “O Messenger of Allaah! Where will the `Arabs be that day?” He ﷺ said: ❝They will be few.❞

[Saheeh Muslim (2945-125)]

The Prophet ﷺ said:

❝The first people to perish will be the Quraish, and the first amongst the Quraish to perish will be the members of my household.❞

[al-Saheehah (1737) and graded as “Saheeh li ghairihee” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

The Prophet ﷺ said:

❝A man will be given pledge of allegiance between the Corner (the Black Stone) and al-Maqaam (Station of Ibraaheem), and no one will permit (bloodshed) in the House (of Allaah) except its people (the Muslims). And once they make it permissible (to spill the blood in the Sanctuary), then do not ask about the destruction of the `Arabs!* Then the Abyssinians will come and destroy the Ka`bah, such that after this destruction it will never be rebuilt. They will be the ones who will plunder the treasure of the Ka`bah.❞

[Musnad (7910, 8114, 8351, 8619) and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaik al-Albaanee in al-Saheehah (579, 2743)]

*Meaning: their destruction will soon follow.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

❝The quickest `Arab tribe to perish will be the Quraish. Very soon a woman will pass by the sandals (or shoes) and will say: ‘This is a Quraishi sandal.’❞

[Musnad Ahmad (8437) and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee in al-Saheehah (738) and he said: “It is as per the conditions of Imaam Muslim.”]

Some Weak Ahaadeeth:

The Prophet ﷺ is supposed to have said:

❝When the `Arabs are degraded, Islaam will be degraded.❞

[Musnad Abu Yu`laa (1881, 2096), and graded as “Fabricated” by Shaikh al-Albaanee in al-Dha`eefah (163)]

Note: The honor and success of Islaam is not dependent upon the `Arabs. It is the `Arabs who are honored through Islaam.

The Prophet ﷺ is supposed to have said:

❝From the (signs of) coming of the Hour is the destruction of the Arabs.❞

[Sunan al-Tirmidhee (3929) and graded as “Dha`eef” by Shaikh al-Albaanee. See al-Dha`eefah (4515)]

The Prophet ﷺ is supposed to have said:

❝The first people to perish will be the `Arabs and then the Persians.❞

[Musnad Ahmad (10655) and graded as “Dha`eef” (Weak) by Shaikh al-Albaanee in al-Dha`eefah (10/21-22)]

The Prophet ﷺ mentioned that when the Dajjaal will emerge, there will be severe hardship (because of scarcity of food). He ﷺ was asked: “Which of people’s wealth will be the best on that day?” He ﷺ said: ❝A strong youth who will draw water for his family, but as for food, they will have nothing.❞ He was asked: “Then what will be the nourishment of the Believers on that day?” He ﷺ said: ❝Their nourishment will be that which is the nourishment of the Angels, ‘Tasbeeh’ (saying: Sub-haan Allaah), ‘Takbeer’ (saying: Allaahu Akbar), ‘Tahmeed’ (saying: al-Hamdulillaah), and ‘Tahleel’ (saying: Laa ilaaha illallaah).❞ `Aaishah asked: “Where will be the `Arabs on that day?” He ﷺ said: ❝The `Arabs on that day will be few.❞

[Musnad Ahmad (24470, 24944) and Sunan Ibn Maajah (4077), but graded as “Dha`eef” (Weak) by Shaikh al-Albaanee in “Qissatul Maseeh al-Dajjaal” (1/94). He mentioned the Hadeeth in al-Saheehah (3079), but said only the first part is authentic (excluding the part mentioning the food and drink)]

The Prophet ﷺ is supposed to have said:

❝The Hour will not be established till some of the tribes will be swallowed by the earth, till it will be said: ‘Who is remaining from so-and-so tribe?’❞ The Companion said: “From this I understood that by the tribes he ﷺ is referring to the `Arabs because the `Ajam (the non-`Arabs) are referred to by their town names.
