Narrated `Abdullaah Ibn Mas`ood رضي الله عنه: The Prophet ﷺ said: ❝If only one day of this world remained. Allaah would lengthen that day till He تعالى raises up in it a man who belongs to me or to my family whose father’s name is the same as my father’s, who will fill the earth with equity and justice as it has been filled with oppression and tyranny. The world will not pass away before the Arabs are ruled by a man of my family whose name will be the same as mine.❞

Narrated `Alee Ibn Aboo Taalib رضي الله عنه: The Prophet ﷺ said: ❝If only one day of this time (world) remained, Allaah would raise up a man from my family who would fill this earth with justice as it has been filled with oppression.❞

`Aaishah رضي الله عنها reported that Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ was startled in the state of sleep. We said: Allaah’s Messenger, you have done something in the state of your sleep which you never did before. Thereupon he ﷺ said: ❝Strange it is that some people of my Ummah would attack the House (Ka`bah) (in order to kill) a person who would belong to the tribe of the Quraish and he would try to seek protection in the House (Masjid al-Haraam). And when they would reach the plain ground they would be sunk.❞ We said: Allaah’s Messenger, all sorts of people throng the path. Thereupon he ﷺ said: ❝Yes, there would be amongst them people who are there by choice and those who would be forced to come and there would be travelers also, but they would all be destroyed through one (stroke) of destruction though they would be raised in different states (on the Day of Resurrection). Allaah will raise them according to their intentions.❞

Safiyyah رضي الله عنها narrated “The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: ❝The people will not finish attacking this House (i.e. the Ka`bah) until it is attacked by an army which, when they are at al-Baidaa’, it will swallow from the first of them to the last of them, and the middle of them shall not be saved.❞ I said: O Messenger of Allaah ﷺ! What about those among them who are averse to it? He ﷺ said: ❝Allaah will resurrect them upon what was in their hearts (intentions).❞

Hafsah رضي الله عنها narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: ❝An invading army will come toward this House until when they are in Al-Baida, the middle of them will be swallowed up by the earth. The first of them will call out to the last of them, and they will be swallowed up, until there is no one left of them except a fugitive who will tell (others) of what happened to them.❞

Like the Raafidhah, the Jews also await their Messiah, the antichrist, the Dajjaal, who would establish his reign of terror with them. This is why a large number of Dajjaal’s followers will be the Jews.
Anas b. Malik reported that Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ said: ❝The Dajjaal would be followed by seventy thousand Jews of Isfahan wearing Persian shawls.❞

Anas b. Malik reported that Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ said: ❝Dajjaal will emerge amidst the Jews of Isfahan, and with him will be seventy thousand Jews wearing Persian shawls.❞

It was narrated that Abu Bakr Siddiq said: The Messenger of
Allaah ﷺ told us: ❝Dajjaal will emerge in a
land in the east called Khorasan, and will be followed by people with faces
like hammered shields.❞

3. The Christians:
The Evangelical Christians believe, their vehemence support
of Israaeel should not be a surprise. One of the main strands of evangelical theology
holds that the return of Jews to the region starts the clock ticking on a
seven-year Armageddon, after which Jesus Christ (`Eesaa Ibn Maryam) will return.
For these Evangelists, Jesus Christ will only return when the
Armageddon begins, and the Armageddon will begin only when the antichrist appears. And the antichrist will not appear till the Jews are settled in the
region.
Narrated Thawbaan رضي الله عنه:
The Prophet ﷺ said: ❝The people will soon summon
one another to attack you as people when eating invite others to share their
dish.❞ Someone asked: “Will that be because of our small
numbers at that time?” He ﷺ replied:
❝No, you will be numerous at that time: but you will be
scum and rubbish like that carried down by a torrent, and Allaah will take fear
of you from the breasts of your enemy and cast Wahn (enervation) into your
hearts.❞ Someone asked: “What is Wahn (enervation), O
Messenger of Allaah ﷺ?” He ﷺ replied: ❝Love
of the world and dislike of death.❞

Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه reported Allaah’s
Messenger ﷺ as saying: ❝The Last Hour
would not come until the Romans would land at al-A`maaq or in Daabiq. An army
consisting of the best (soldiers) of the people of the earth at that time will
come from al-Madeenah (to counteract them). When they will arrange themselves
in ranks, the Romans would say: “Do not stand between us and those (Muslims)
who took prisoners from amongst us. Let us fight with them”; and the Muslims
would say: “Nay, by Allaah, we would never get aside from you and from our
brethren that you may fight them.” They will then fight and a third (part) of
the army would run away, whom Allaah will never forgive. A third (part of the
army) which would be constituted of excellent martyrs in Allaah's eye, would be
killed and the third who would never be put to trial would win and they would
be conquerors of Constantinople. And as they would be busy in distributing the
spoils of war (amongst themselves) after hanging their swords by the olive
trees, the Satan would cry: The Dajjaal has taken your place among your family.
They would then come out, but it would be of no avail. And when they would come
to Syria, he would come out while they would be still preparing themselves for
battle drawing up the ranks. Certainly, the time of prayer shall come and then `Eesaa
Ibn Maryam (عليه السلام) would descend and would lead them. When the enemy of Allaah
would see him, it would (disappear) just as the salt dissolves itself in water
and if he (`Eesaa) were not to confront them at all, even then it would
dissolve completely, but Allaah would kill them by his hand and he would show
them their blood on his lance (the lance of `Eesaa عليه السلام).❞

4. The Khawaarij:
The Khawaarij are the opressors, they persecute the true
believers and falsely accuse them of Kufr, while the real Kuffar are safe from
their evil. They have done great harm to Islaam and Muslims.
The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said about the Khawaarij: ❝They will kill
the Believers but will spare the idolaters. Should I live till they appear, I will
kill them as the people of `Aad were killed (i.e. I will kill all of them).❞

The sub-sects of al-Khawaarij:
Within the Khawaarij there are many sub-sects. From these
sub-sects are: Harooriyyah, al-Azaariqah, al-Najdaat, al-Ibaadhiyah,
al-Baihasiyyah, al-Safariyyah, al-Qa`diyyah. The Khawaarij al-Qa`diyyah were
amongst the most dangerous groups, amongst their sign was that they did not
themselves participate in the revolts and protests, but they would incite the
people and encourage them to do so. The modern day online keyboard warriors
play the role of al-Khawaarij al-Qa`diyyah who love to incite the people from
the comfort of their own homes.

The Khawaarij kill indiscriminately:
The Companion `Abdullaah bin Khabbaab رضي الله عنهما:
His father Khabbaab bin al-Arat رضي الله عنه
was also a companion. In fact Khabbaab was among the foremost to accept Islaam.
He was one of the six people to embrace Islaam and was tortured at the hands of
the Mushriks of Makkah. As for `Abdullaah Ibn Khabbaab, he, along with
`Abdullaah Ibn al-Zubair, were the first to be born in Islaam.

`Abdullaah bin Khabbaab was killed by the Khawaarij:
Some of the Khawaarij were travelling from al-Basrah to
al-Koofah. On their way they met `Abdullaah bin Khabbaab along with him was his
wife (at his home). They asked him: Who are you? He said: I am `Abdullaah bin
Khabbaah, the Companion of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.
They asked him about Abu Bakr, `Umar, `Uthmaan and `Alee رضي الله عنهم.
He mentioned all of them with lots of praises, so they killed him and shed his
blood in the water. And they killed his wife who was pregnant with near
delivery. She said to them: I am a woman, don’t you fear Allaah? They ripped
open her womb (and killed both the mother and the child).

The Khawaarij fight for the Dunyaa and not for the Deen:
The Khawaarij killed `Uthmaan رضي الله عنه
because according to them he was giving his own family members preference over
the others.
A man from the Khawaarij came to al-Hasan al-Basree and
said: What do you have to say about the Khawaarij? Al-Hasan said: ❝They chase the Dunya.❞ The man said:
And what makes you say that, whereas one of them walks with the spear till it
breaks (i.e. engages in war) and abandons his wife and children? Al-Hasan said:
❝Tell me
about the ruler, does he prevent you from establishing the prayer, paying the
Zakaah and performing Hajj and `Umrah?❞
He said: No. He said: ❝I only see that he prevented you from the Dunya, so you
fought him for it.❞

The Khawaarij, irrespective of era, follow the same
pattern:
It is as if Imaam Ibn Katheer is giving the description of
the Khawaarij of today (IS∙IS,
al-Qaa∙idah):
“If they (the Khawaarij) were to gain strength, they would
cause mischief on earth – in `Iraaq, in Shaam (and everywhere). They would not
leave a small boy or a small girl, nor a man or a woman (except that they would
kill them). This is because they think that people have got so much corrupted
that nothing can reform them except through mass killing.” 📚

Whenever the Khawaarij emerged, the enemies of Islaam were
at ease, as these Khawaarij played into their hands in causing destruction to
Islaam and Muslims.

The Khawaarijs’ attack in al-Bilaad al-Haramain:
The Prophet ﷺ said: ❝They will kill the Believers but will spare the idolaters.❞

Centuries ago, Wahab Ibn Munabbih رحمه الله
said:
"Had Allaah تعالى
permitted the Khawaarij (to rule) according to their ways:
🚫 Corruption (bloodshed)
would have spread across the land.
🚫 The pathways would
have been cut off.
🚫 Pilgrimage (Hajj)
towards the House of Allaah would have had stopped.
🚫 The laws of the Days
of Ignorance (law of the jungle) would have prevailed."

Ibn `Asaakir (63/383)]
Almost 40 years ago, in 1979, al-Masjid al-Haraam in Makkah
was under seize for two weeks when extremist insurgents took over al-Masjid
al-Haraam. The insurgents declared that the Mahdee (the “redeemer of Islaam”)
had arrived in the form of one of their leaders. The seizure was led by
Juhaymaan al-Otaybi, who declared his brother-in-law Mohammad Ibn `Abdullaah
al-Qahtaanee to be the Mahdee.
The seizure of al-Masjid al-Haraam, the taking of hostages
from among the worshipers and the deaths of hundreds of militants, security
forces and hostages caught in the crossfire in the ensuing battles for control
of the site, shocked the Islaamic world. The siege ended two weeks after the
takeover began and al-Masjid al-Haraam was cleared.
And the attack in 2016 near al-Masjid al-Nabawee, in
Ramadhaan, was followed by another incident near al-Masjid al-Haraam in 2017.

5. What would become of the `Arabs and the
Muslims during the turmoil?
Umm Shareek رضي الله عنها reported:
I heard Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ as saying: ❝The people would run away from
the Dajjaal seeking shelter in the mountains.❞
She said: “Where would be the Arabs then in that day?” He ﷺ said: ❝They would be few
in number.❞

When the turmoil begins and by the time Dajjaal emerges,
very few Arabs will be left. The Ahaadeeth quoted earlier that an army will
reach till Makkah to kill the Mahdee, nations summoning each other to attack
the Muslims, the Dajjaal reaching till al-Madeenah, are signs of how destructive
these turmoil will be.
Yusair Ibn Jaabir reported that `Abdullaah Ibn Mas`ood رضي الله عنه said:
“The Last Hour would not come until shares of inheritance are not distributed
and there is no rejoicing over spoils of war. Then he said pointing towards
Syria, with the gesture of his hand like this: The enemy shall muster strength
against Muslims and the Muslims will muster strength against them (Syrians).” I
said: “You mean Rome?” And he said: “Yes, and there would be a terrible fight
and the Muslims would prepare a detachment (for fighting unto death) which
would not return but victorious. They will fight until night will intervene
them; both the sides will return without being victorious and both will be
wiped out. The Muslims will again prepare a detachment for fighting unto death
so that they may not return but victorious. When it would be the fourth day, a
new detachment out of the remnant of the Muslims would be prepared and Allaah
will decree that the enemy should be routed. And they would fight such a fight
the like of which would not be seen, so much so that even if a bird were to
pass their flanks, it would fall down dead before reaching the end of them.
(There would be such a large scale massacre) that when counting would be done,
(only) one out of a hundred men related to one another would be found alive. So
what can be the joy at the spoils of such war and what inheritance would be
divided! They would be in this very state that they would hear of a calamity
more horrible than this. And a cry would reach them: The Dajjaal has taken your
place among your offspring. They will, therefore, throw away what would be in
their hands and go forward sending ten horsemen, as a scouting party.” Allaah’s
Messenger ﷺ said: ❝I know their names and the
names of their forefathers and the color of their horses. They will be amongst the
best horsemen on the surface of the earth on that day.❞

May Allaah تعالى keep
the Muslims safe from every Fitan, whenever and wherever they may emerge. And
may Allaah protect us from the harm of the Kuffaar and may He تعالى
turn their plots against them.
