Win the hearts and attack them when they're the least expecting (Part 1/2)

...Either through direct preaching or through entertainment.

 Part #1 (Direct preaching)

 We have learned from our scholars and the Salaf that if an innovator would come directly with his Bid`ah (religious innovation), people would run away from him. So, they disguise themselves as pious, well-wishers, sincere advisors etc. And the first one to play this role was Iblees himself:

وَقَاسَمَهُمَا إِنِّي لَكُمَا لَمِنَ النَّاصِحِينَ

{And he [Shaitaan] swore by Allaah to them both (Aadam and Eve) (saying): "Verily, I am one of the sincere well-wishers for you both."}

[Surah al-A`raaf (7): 21]

And we have another example in `Abdullaah Ibn Saba', the Jew, who pretended to be a pious Muslim, and when he infiltrated the ranks of the Muslims and gained their confidence, he started to spread his poison.

 And the two methods these deviants apply is: 1) to mix Truth with Falsehood, 2) to hide the Truth if it goes against them, as Allaah تعالى rebuked the Jews a few times in the Qur'aan saying:

وَلَا تَلْبِسُوا الْحَقَّ بِالْبَاطِلِ وَتَكْتُمُوا الْحَقَّ وَأَنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ

{And mix not truth with falsehood, nor conceal the truth while you know (the truth)}

[Surah al-Baqarah (2): 42]

These days we have so many examples of how these speakers say something misleading and then, later on, come with another video or post to defend themselves. This has become a pattern.

Examples:

1) Nouman Ali Khan. He attributed something false to a companion that he did not allow his wife to stand for night prayers, and whenever she prayed, he used to poke her. It took Nak two years to come out and admit that what he said was false, even though his own friends and fans kept advising him.

NAK also attributed another falsehood that another Sahaabee was teaching Qur'aan to a new Muslim and this person was not able to pronounce a word: "al-Mushrikeen", so this Companion allowed him to change the word to: "al-Fujjaar". To date, he has neither brought evidence for this false narration nor apologized for it.

In another incident NAK made fun that a Sahaabee was having hormonal issues.

See the pattern of belittling the Companions? Then his palindrome thingy which was not a true palindrome and Qur’aan was not revealed for this; or downplaying the dangers and harms of Bid`ah upon the Ummah; and that there is no need to emphasize much on learning the correct `Aqeedah because the word "`Aqeedah" is not there in the Qur'aan (Do we stop washing our private parts after using the toilet only because the word Istinjaa is not there in the Qur’aan?).

2) Then we have Yaser Qadhi, who himself admitted, under no compulsion, that after studying at Yale, he has now some doubts about Islaam/Qur'aan for which he has no answer(s). So, after his heart is filled with doubts, he has now started spreading these doubts, slowly but constantly, among the people, little by little. Belittling the knowledge and understanding of the Sahaabah and those who followed them; saying that there are human elements in the Qur'aan (we seek Allaah's refuge from this); saying that the Hudood (prescribed punishments in Islaam) are Medieval (outdated), problematic, and needs to be modernized; that Yajooj and Majooj are zombies and it is hard for him to believe that they are in existence because the scientists, historians, and others have not been able to find this wall till now. These are words which can lead one to Kufr even if he says that he believes in them.

These are some of the falsehood he has said over the years, yet he comes out with videos and posts to defend himself saying: "Oh I didn't mean this or that", and then the people accept it. Yet, they don't realize that the damage has been done.

His 180° turn on the Shia, he himself said that he read their books and found Kufr in them but now he defends and befriends them; and now has allowed Bid`ah like celebrating the Mawlid etc., all this shows that he is really digressing instead of progressing. May Allaah save us from this Fitnah.

3) Menk said what he said in that radio interview, which was misleading regarding homosexuality, shaking hands with the opposite gender etc., even if people tried to give him a benefit of the doubt it was insufficient because he was trying to compromise Islaam so that the travel ban be lifted from him from entering one of the European nations.  Then after a year's time, when the travel ban was still in place, he releases his clarification that the people misunderstood him. Really, after a year, and when everything else failed?!

Also, in his one hour lecture on Surah Taha, he skipped the Aayaat on Istawa and Allaah's Lofty Attributes. He started with Aayah 1 to 4 then jumps to Aayah 9, skipping from 5 to 8. Then he goes on to speak for an hour. What knowledge is a person sharing if he is skipping the Aayaat on Tawheed and `Aqeedah?

If one sees the trait in Nouman Ali Khan and Mufti Menk, one will see that they concentrate more on storytelling than teaching the people the correct `Aqeedah. It is like Allaah تعالى had said:

وَإِذَا ذَكَرْتَ رَبَّكَ فِي الْقُرْآنِ وَحْدَهُ وَلَّوْا عَلَىٰ أَدْبَارِهِمْ نُفُورًا

{And when you make mention of your Lord Alone [La ilaaha illallaah (none has the right to be worshiped but Allaah)] in the Qur’an, they turn on their backs, fleeing in extreme dislikeness}

[Surah al-Israa (17): 46]

Telling stories is easy because everyone loves them, but teaching Tawheed is not. Everyone trusted the Prophet and called him Ameen, and used to keep their belongings with him for safekeeping, and liked his good nature, but once he started to preach Tawheed, his own people became his worst enemies:

قَدْ نَعْلَمُ إِنَّهُ لَيَحْزُنُكَ الَّذِي يَقُولُونَ ۖ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَا يُكَذِّبُونَكَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ الظَّالِمِينَ بِآيَاتِ اللَّـهِ يَجْحَدُونَ

{We know indeed the grief which their words cause you (O Muhammad ): it is not you that they deny, but it is the Verses (the Quran) of Allah that the Dhaalimoon (polytheists and wrong-doers) deny.}

[Surah al-An`aam (6): 33]

These celebrity speakers are more concerned about having a large fan following and avoid topics – which they think – will divide their followers.

4) Another “famous” speaker in a Q&A section, responded to a question by saying that even if a person does not believe in Prophethood of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, he still has 0.00001% chances of entering the Jannah. Everyone knows that disbelieving in the Prophethood of Muhammad is Kufr, and that denying one Prophet is like denying all of them, from the first to the last, then why say this?

And he also said that Hoor are both males and females, this is talking about the unseen without knowledge and without evidence.

And he also said that Allaah can be called upon by the names of Hindu gods, as long as one doesn't imagine the images of the Hindu gods in his mind. Glory be to Allaah, He is free of what they attribute to Him!

The issues are not only with these speakers but also with their blind fans, those who would stand up to defend them no matter what they say. They have less Gheerah (protective jealousy) for this Deen than the love they have for these individuals. They forget that there is no individual greater than Islaam!

One will not find the real scholars talking in a misleading or ambiguous way that causes confusion, misunderstanding or creates doubts in the hearts of the people.

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: A slave (of Allaah) may utter a word (carelessly) - which displeases Allaah - without thinking of its gravity, and because of that he will be thrown in the Hell-fire.

[Saheehain]

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم warned his Companions saying: There is something that I fear more for my Ummah than the Dajjaal." The Companions asked: "O Messenger of Allaah, what is it that you fear the most for your Ummah other than the Dajjaal?" He said: "Misguided scholars!

[Musnad of Imaam Ahmad (21296, 21297) and graded as "Saheeh due to corroborating narrations" by Shaikh al-Albaanee in al-Saheehah (1582 & 1989)]

To be continued, by Allaah's permission...
