Win the hearts and attack them when they're the least expecting (Part 2/2)

بـسـم الله والحـمـد لله والـصلاة والـسـلام عــلى رسـول الله، وبـعـد

...Either through direct preaching or through entertainment.

Part #2 (Entertainment)

Entertainment in the name of Islaam is another sickness plaguing the Muslim Ummah.

The first Aayah and Command that was revealed was to READ, but many amongst us don't want to read. There are many educated ignorant amongst us; educated in the terms of worldly knowledge, but ignorant when it comes to religious knowledge. As Allaah تعالى says:

يَعْلَمُونَ ظَاهِرًا مِّنَ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَهُمْ عَنِ الْآخِرَةِ هُمْ غَافِلُونَ

{They know only the outside appearance of the life of the world (i.e. the matters of their livelihood, like irrigating or sowing or reaping, etc.), and they are heedless of the Hereafter.}

[Surah al-Room (30): 7]

Their ignorance on the basic knowledge about Islaam, Qur’aan and Hadeeth has made them susceptible to fall prey to fabricated narrations and straight out lies. They are not in a position to distinguish between Truth and Falsehood, yet they claim to take the good and leave the bad.

Since they are deprived of seeking beneficial knowledge from the scholars, they opt for entertainment to spend their time. And if a movie or a TV series is presented with name of Islaam, they watch it so religiously as if they are fulfilling an obligation of Islaam, and absorb everything that is being said in that TV series/movie like it is revelation!

A month ago, we already read how the movie, “The Message”, was filled with misinformation, distortion of facts, and Shia elements. This movie was a clear example of how Truth was mixed with Falsehood, yet many to this day have been unaware of it. There are many who still cannot point out a single thing of objection other than the Music.

Remember, the reasons for these falsehood to crawl into movies are either because the writers, producers, and directors are ignorant, OR THEY ARE SUBLIMINALLY PREACHING THEIR BELIEFS.

On the one hand we have these Western movies which are clear Kufr and Shirk. Characters having “God” like powers; kingdoms of weak gods who die or can be killed; time-traveling; changing the past or knowing the future; or promoting idol worship etc.

Allaah تعالى says:

وَالَّذِينَ لَا يَشْهَدُونَ الزُّورَ وَإِذَا مَرُّوا بِاللَّغْوِ مَرُّوا كِرَامًا

{And those who do not witness falsehood, and if they pass by some evil play or evil talk, they pass by it with dignity.}

[Surah al-Furqaan (25): 82]

Al-Haafidh Ibn Katheer رحمه الله said in his Tafseer of the above Aayah: “These are further attributes of the servants of the al-Rahmaan. They do not bear witness to falsehood, including lies, immorality, disbelief, foul speech and false words.

...From the context it seems that what is meant by those who do not bear witness to falsehood is those who do not attend it or are not present when it happens.

Allaah تعالى says:

{and if they pass by some evil play or evil talk, they pass by it with dignity.}

They do not attend where falsehood occurs, and if it so happens that they pass by it, they do not let it contaminate them in the slightest.”

[End of quote from Tafseer Ibn Katheer]

Even though the Kufr is clear, yet the Muslims watch them without hesitation.

Then there is this TV series which got popular among the Muslims recently, yep, it's the Turkish TV series: “Ertugrul”. One of the characters shown in it is of the heretic Ibn `Arabee, the Sufee, the one who was declared as a Kaafir by many prominent scholars of his time and those who came after them, including Ibn Taymiyyah, al-Dhahabee, Ibn Katheer, Ibn al-Hajar, al-Iraaqee and many others. Some of the false beliefs of this heretic Ibn `Arabee were: “Wahdatul Wujood (unity of existence, i.e. all that exists is Allaah, and there is no difference between the Creator and the creation)”, “the calf which the Banee Israaeel were worshiping was Haqq”, “the idols which the people of Nooh were worshiping were Haqq too and had those people left off worshiping them, they would have gone more astray.” yet this heretic is portrayed as religious, pious saint in the series. Rather, the Ottoman empire, if not built upon Sufee belief, was plagued by it and by grave worshiping and building structures over the graves. The grandchildren of this empire opposed the call to Tawheed and killed the grandson of Shaikh al-Islaam, Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahaab, and they were the first to coin the term: Wahhaabee.

An example of this series is like a glass filled with Zamzam water and some drops of poison. A person who knows that poison was added to it will not drink it. But those who don't know may drink from it. So, even though the amount of poison might be little, yet some of those who drink from it may be harmed seriously by the poison, or they might just show mild symptoms and recover. But have no doubt, the poison will effect all those who drink from it.

If ever these TV series or movies or so-called Islaamic Nasheed had any positive effect, one would have seen the impact on the actors who played these roles. But as one can notice, it's all about fame and making money. The actors are treated like celebrities and the singers of these Anaasheed are treated like pop stars. These people make millions in the name of Islaam, and at the same time they are poisoning the people's minds.

{And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing, etc.) to mislead (men) from the Path of Allaah without knowledge...}

[Surah Luqmaan (31): 6]

The Aayah sums up the activity which people want, namely: entertainment; and they label it as Islaamic to hide the guilt. Rather, they don't even consider it as wrong anymore.

 So, be it Western or Eastern, such TV series and movies are harming the Muslims' belief and deviating them away from the Truth.

We beseech Allaah to protect us and our families of ever going astray after having received guidance, and to keep us firm upon the Sunnah and upon Truth.
