The Innovators are Not given Supremacy:

Another title: One of the Virtues of the People of Hadeeth.

بـسـم الله والحـمـد لله والـصلاة والـسـلام عــلى رسـول الله، وبـعـد

The Imaam, Abu Bakr Ahmad bin `Alee, famously known as al-Khateeb al-Baghdaadee رحمه الله mentioned in his book that Is-haaq bin Moosaa al-Khatmiyy [1] said:

“No one in this Ummah was strengthened the way the As-haab al-Hadeeth (companions of the Hadeeth) were strengthened and facilitated (by Allaah تعالى). Allaah تعالى says:

{He will grant them the authority to practice their religion which He has chosen for them (i.e. Islaam)} [Surah al-Noor (24): 55]

And whoever Allaah تعالى is pleased with, He تعالى grants His people supremacy in it (in the land).

He تعالى does not allow the people of desires (the innovators) to be firmly established, so that not a single narration of theirs - which they report on the authority of the Companions of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم - is accepted.

As for the As-haab al-Hadeeth, then their Hadeeth (narration) from the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and his Companions is accepted. Whereas if there is an innovator amongst their midst, then they will drop his narration, even if he were from the most truthful of people [2].”

[1] Imaam al-Dhahabee said about Is-haaq bin Moosaa al-Khatmiyy: He is the Imaam, the Haafidh (preserver/memorizer of Hadeeth), al-Faqeeh (the knowledgeable) and judge of Nisaapoor. He is from the Shaikhs of Imaam Muslim, al-Tirmidhee, al-Nasa’ee, Ibn Maajah.

Imaam al-Nasa’ee said about him: Trustworthy.

Amongst the group, Imaam Al-Tirmidhee reported the most Ahaadeeth through him.

[2] An example of how the narrations of the innovators were left out:

Muhammad ibn Abee Haatim said: I heard Imaam al-Bukhaaree رحمه الله saying a month before his death:

“I have written narrations from a thousand and eighty men, none of them was other than a companion of hadeeth. They used to say, ‘Eemaan is speech and action, it increases and decreases.”

[Siyar A`laam al-Nubalaa’ (12/395) of al-Dhahabee and al-Laalikaa’ee in Sharh al-I`tqaad (5/959)]
