In Majmoo` al—Fataawa
(18/287-288), Shaikh al-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله said:
“Abiding by the Sunnah (of
the Prophet صلى
الله عليه وسلم) in (our) speech
and in (our) actions, in all the matters pertaining to worship and habits, is from
the perfection (and attainment) of the Siraat al-Mustaqeem (the straight path).
And other than that, if it is not from the things that are prohibited (i.e.
there is no clear text prohibiting it or allowing it), then (acting upon) it will be imperfect or less likely to be correct. Verily! The best guidance is the
guidance of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم.”
