Based on the work of the noble Shaikh al-Albaanee رحمه الله: “Silsilatu al-Ahaadeeth al-Saheehah”
28) From `Abdullaah bin `Amr رضي الله عنهما in marfoo` form: “From amongst the most beloved of you to me are those with the best of manners.”
[Musnad
of Imaam Ahmad (2/189) and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee in al-Saheehah
(792)]
29) Narrated `Abdullaah bin Amr رضي الله عنهما: Allaah's Apostle صلى الله عليه وسلم neither talked in an insulting manner nor did he ever speak evil intentionally. He صلى الله عليه وسلم used to say: “The most beloved to me amongst you is the one who has the best character and manners.”
[Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (3760)]
30) From Taawoos that the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم said while he was on the pulpit, “Verily the one who guides to the perfection of manners is Allaah and it is He who diverts a person away.”
[Tabaraanee (10896) and graded as “Saheeh Mursal” (i.e. the chain is Saheeh up to Tawoos, but it is broken between the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and Tawoos) by Shaikh al-Albaanee in al-Saheehah (3255)]
The support for the above narration is also found in the opening supplication in the Prayer, where the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
“O Allaah! Guide me to the best of manners. No one will guide me to the best of them, but You. And, turn away from me its evils, for none will turn away from me its evils, except You.”
[Saheeh Muslim (1296), Abu Dawood (760), Tirmidhee (3422, 3423)]
31) From Umar رضي الله عنه that the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Beware of sitting on the roads! And if you have to do it, then give the road its right.” It was asked: “And what is its right?” He صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Lowering the gaze, returning the salaam, and guiding the one who is lost.”
[al-Tahaawee in Mushkil al-Aathaar (1/58) and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee in al-Saheehah (2501)]
32) Narrated Abu Sa`eed Al Khudree رضي الله عنه: The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Beware! Avoid sitting on the roads.” They (the people) said: “O Allaah’s Apostle! We can't help sitting (on the roads) as these are (our places) where we have talks.” The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “If you refuse but to sit, then pay the road its right.” They said: “What is the right of the road, O Allaah’s Apostle?” He said: “Lowering your gaze, refraining from harming others, returning greeting, and enjoining what is good, and forbidding what is evil.”
[Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (2465, 6229) and Saheeh Muslim (5293, 5376)]
33) Abu Talha رضي الله عنه reported: While We were sitting in front of the houses and talking amongst ourselves, Allaah's Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم happened to come there. He stood by us and said: “What about you and your meetings on the paths? Avoid these meetings on the paths.” We said: We were sitting here without (any intention of doing harm to the passers-by); we are sitting to discuss matters and to hold conversation amongst ourselves. Thereupon he صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “If there is no help (for you but to sit on these paths), then give the paths their rights and these are lowering of the gaze, exchanging of greetings and good conversation.”
[Saheeh Muslim (5375)]

said: “If you must sit there, then fulfill the

Messenger of Allaah?” He صلى الله عليه وسلم
